Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No reason why we can't clock over 40,000 before the weekend. Surely at least some of the 85,000 who attended Monday night will have signed up on the day (and their figures have not filtered through yet)!  Expect a boost at the end of today when they are added to the total.

No reason at all.

Not likely either imho.

The keen ones already on board.

Some watch and wait. Each consecutive loss turns a light out.

Dont think we lost 3 in a row last year. Might put a few off. Thats just life.

40,000 is so close now you can smell it. 366 to go!  We'll hit it sometime next week. 39,634 today. Still tracking towards a total of around 42,000.

Another tick for PJ.

Our membership numbers have the appearance of almost dragging themselves hand over hand towards the 40k line. Only 630 members added in a little over 3 weeks. Sure, there were three losses in that time, but they were fighting losses, heavily influenced by injuries and suspensions. Will be interesting to how much of a difference Sunday's win will make. I suspect if there is not an increase of about 500 this week, it might mean we are reaching the limits of what our supporter base can sustain.

We already know that we have one of the lowest supporter bases of the Melbourne clubs.

Let's hope that this has been a temporary pause and that we can push on to 41 or 42k.

Club  is offering a $75 new balance voucher for next 1,000 people who sign up, I'm thinking of signing my unborn child up that's due in 4 weeks, $50 for a baby dee membership and I get $75 back it's a no brainer

There’s a money-making scheme in there somewhere I reckon…

Unfortunately to the layman Melbourne supporter, wins and losses are what counts. Given our recent history...who can blame them.

Start stringing together wins and have a (somewhat) successful finals campaign..watch them come out of the woodwork.

Although I was only 11 years old, I'll never forget the deafening chants at the G of Melbourne supporters against North Melbourne and Sydney in the 87 finals series. It was spine tingling.

It's so frustrating because we definitely have the 'fans'- we need to convert said fans into 'supporters' and eventually members.

Obviously the last decade hasn't been roses, but think back to the Freeze MND game last year when droves and droves of dees flooded the G in support.

That game made me look around and think where the f@ck have all these melbourne supporters come from. I see that many cars with decrepit mfc bumper stickers- old, waterlogged and sad-looking from years passed. If only the typical supporter was that rusted on...

Sustained success= membership growth, captain obvious i know but it truely is that simple.

I think we have to get a flag to convert a lot of these remaining 'supporters'. Sustained success has to equal at least one flag, if not two or three. That's the only way we'll build ourselves up to where we need to be. And that is, up where Hawthorn have managed to build themselves to.

If we can play a final this year, we'll go close to 45,000 members next year.

If we can win a final this year, we'll get 45,000 members next year.

If we can make the top 4 and do some damage in 2018, by 2019 we should be looking at 50,000 members, which would obviously be a terrific effort.

Nothing is ever that straight forward, but I think it's entirely possible if we keeping tracking northwards. And to come from low 30,000s in 2013, to 50,000 by 2019, near doubling your membership in 6 years is incredible. Port-like really, but in a much tougher and more competitive Victorian market.

AF i think you're close to the money.

Well get over the 40000 this season... eventually. Even with getting into finals a few years running we wont get much more, if, 45000. Only so many cats dogs and babies you join up.

A Premiership is the Golden Key.

There are those who want that before 'comitting'

I share a similar feeling bb.

A few weeks ago I thought the top for 2017 would be 40.5K

It looks accurate with every passing day.

There was a woman who worked at the club in the 90s sorry just can't think of her name? After one of our matches at the G there was a function in one of those bars up stairs; where my friends and used to attend, whilst waiting for some of the players to arrive she, spoke and said the club had over two hundred thousand people who followed the club.  She also said the club was trying to do something about it, of course as you all know nothing was done, so it will be interesting to see in the next couple of years when we do start to head to the top if these people will join the DEMON train all aboard.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
