And that's actual legit members, not " Mickey Mouse" $1.00 maybe we will, maybe we won't members.

We are about to have numbers that we got in June last year - we will easily get 40k and looking like 42k+ if we compete with Geelong and beat Freo and the Tigers at the G who knows where we will get to...

I understand that we will 'run out of people to sign up' but we are getting people out of the woodwork for the first time in a decade.

I don't think we know the numbers in the woodwork.

I imagine there will be quite a few, but we will need to perform well for an extended period of time before we lure them back.

Yes for them after decades of crap one swallow does not make it summer.

30 Minutes before the game there was a long line at the membership shed.

I have never seen that before, it will be interesting to see how many signed up this week.

I was at gate 3 handing out scarves. The line to the membership shed was 50 people lomg 10 minutes before the bounce. I have never been so busy handing out carves as this weekend. Josh Wagner was there to meet and greet ended up assisting us, as there were 5 lines of 10 deep members to claim a scarf. It was flat stick from 2pm right up to game time and more wins mean more members. Josh was awesome and the number of surprised looks on members faces when they saw who was processing their members card and handing out a scarf was fantastic.

old dee, is that you? Never thought I'd see you making a comment that suggests we'll have "two power years" in the near future.

LDC I know you are saying that with good humour however I am getting a bit annoyed.

IMO I have always said what I saw and we were terrible with a terrible list it was not rocket science to see it.

We now have a much better list that is going to improve, we are passed the easy beat stage.

I am now reflecting this improvement.

old dee, it seems I may have annoyed you and for that I apologise. Perhaps I'm just a little unsure how I'm meant to behave after a 2-0 (or as some in the media insist in saying "two and oh") start to the year. I'm not used to such optimism and bonhomie. Nevertheless, I trust we can continue our friendly banter whatever the remainder of 2017 and beyond delivers.

Never thought it would be any other way LDC and I did say I knew the spirit you said it in.

Good to see it climbing at a steady rate. My concern was that it would slow down dramatically. My membership renewed automatically for the first time this season, I'm guessing others were in the same boat.

>40k would set a good foundation for the next few years. If we can get it right onfield we should look to consolidate that to 45k and eventually 50k over the next 5 years or so.

"39,255

How good is this?  Less than 1,000 to 40k!!"

Wiseblood has corrected his post, the figure was 38,255 and today at nearly 5pm it is still that number. (Just so we don't get over excited).

DIG, 45K is a long stretch for a club that reputedly had one of the lowest supporter bases 10 years ago and of course not much good news since then to boost it.

I won't hold my breath, (mainly 'cos I worry I will jinx us), but 42K, should be possible this year.

Rates are slowing down now...

38299

MEMBERS SIGNED UP FOR 2017

40k is still going to happen but 45 is a target for next year after a good year this year!

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
