So the bombers are pushing for a game against us round 1 on the Friday night, to welcome back all there players, no doubt the AFL Will allow it, would be bombers home game as they need to be rewarded for cheating, if it does happen geez I hope we smash them by 100+

Hawthorn much more important game for our standard, than against some washed up bottom side.

Perfect time though to officially hand back the Medal at half time, if it has to be against TWSNBN.

It'll be Essendon vs Melbourne, Essendon home game. To alternate every year.

Hawthorn plays Geelong in Round 1.

How massively out of touch have the head honchos at the AFL become?

Not only are they rewarding this years wooden spooner's with prime-time viewership (something they have said on multiple occasions needs to be earned through good performances), but they are also glorifying these drug cheats.

What a fantastic message these halfwits are sending out to the many young fans who idolise this sport. Gil the Dill, more like Gil the imbecile.

Just sickening that the AFL are fawning all over this mob like they are returning heroes rather than the stinking drug cheats they are.

Why are we celebrating cheats. Anything Essendon want they seem to get. Will we ever get a home game against Essendon. We have only had 1 home game in 11 years against Essendon. Hopefully they don't get what they want this time let them play Hawthorn as they won't be playing Geelong until Round 4 on Easter Monday.

Our home game vs Essendon? Can't and won't happen.

I heard that the MCC and the AFL have a gentlemans agreement that Melbourne are to ONLY play away games against Carlton and Essendon at the MCG.

Something about ensuring we play more games at the MCG whilst never playing either of them at Etihad.

Would seem on the money given we haven't hosted Carlton since 2011 or Essendon since 2010.

Furhermore we haven't played Essendon or Carlton at Etihad since 2009.

Awesome......Given we have Hibberd and Melksham, and they have another 10 found guilty of doping, we could play off round one every year for the "pee in a cup" Cup...........

F I hate Essendon. Nearly as much as Hawthorn!

And the young fans really care? Please it's 2016, the young fans are off their faces half the time with whatever is the new trendy tablet

Just be glad we might have a Friday night game to start the season, I don't care if it is about the $$$$

Interesting. The AFL seem to have now given us extra games at Etihad vs North, StK to offset the games vs Ess & Carlt we don't play there.  Win for Ess Carlt and a loss for MFC!

A big problem for MFC is we never get the 'home club' gate revenue for the MCG games - vs clubs with high memberships.  Ditto Hawks.

Carlton and Essendon have been bleating for years for more home games at the MCG and that has stealthily happened.  AFL politics and power broking will make it very hard for us to get a fair go on fixtures be it venue, time slot, FTA, etc. Our cash flow is considerably compromised from backroom maneuverings.

Only winning will give PJ the negotiating power to claw back some beneficial scheduling from the AFL.

If as suggested the season commences with Blues vs Tigers on March 23rd I think it is a bit of a quick turnaround (within the first 4 rounds of the season) for the Hawks and Cats to play each other twice.

Remember they always play each other in the Easter Monday game which next season will fall on April 17th

I don't hate Hawthorn. I'm envious of them but I don't hate them.

I hate the Bombers, ignorance and arrogance rolled up in one stupid football club.

Although I don't like the idea behind it (Essendon welcoming back their banned players like they're long lost heroes), I'd be more than happy to see the club play on a Friday night in Round 1. It's a fantastic opportunity to not only smash Essendon and officially start the Goodwin era, but to let a packed MCG crowd and millions of TV viewers know that we've arrived, and we're here to stay.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
