Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't think you have to have 3  draft picks, you need 3 changes to your list. For example you just upgrade 3 rookies and that could be it.

I think this is correct also..i.e  3 changes to your SENIOR list is how i think it works

That is what I said - rookie upgrades are part of the 3 draft picks!

Yes you did say that but you also said you need under AFL rules to take 3 picks to the draft. You actually don't need to take any picks to the draft. Upgrades trades FA's etc are all ok.

Red, we are saying the same thing!  The only way to upgrade a rookie is to use a draft pick at the NAB draft.  AFL rules say a club needs to take 3 picks to (in) the draft.  Ipso facto the rookie upgrades picks on draft night are included in the AFL's obligatory 3 picks.

Will leave the semantics at that.

Anyway, my main point was how good will it be for Smith and Wagner to be on our seniors list next year.

Ok, so the way I'm interpreting all this is:

I reckon the Hanley to Gold Coast trade will play a part, and Pick 44 (currently Gold Coast) will find it's way to Brisbane.

We then trade Dunn, 2017 1st Round Pick & Pick 29 to Brisbane

Rockliff, Pick 19 & 44 then come back to Melbourne

Melbourne then trade Pick 19 to Essendon

Hibberd & Pick 41 to Melbourne

Melbourne then trade one of Picks 41, 44 or 48 to Hawthorn for Lewis

Alternatively if we could trade Pick 44 & a player (Vanders/Nibbler) to Essendon for Hibberd that would be ideal. We could then trade 48 for Lewis and take 19 to the draft!

Eek!! My brain hurts   !!

Agree Wagner is also seen as a player who can improve his game substantially.

We would not give Bombers a pick 19 if we had it for Hibberd. Way too high and more than agreed.

I agree. It's just the rumour with the strong sources has us giving this years pick 29 and next years 1st rounder to Brisbane. Which makes me think how do we get Hibberd given we can't trade next years 2nd rounder? We shall see I guess

I think losing a grand final is a tragedy in many ways. You get scarred mentally and then get screwed with draft picks and the draw. It's a long way back.

If you have a really strong list you can sustain success, like Hawthorn have, but even they must start to feel the pinch sooner or later.  Have a look at Hawthorn's drafting over the last 6 or so years, they haven't got much out of it at all, they have relied on a big influx of top end talent and then free agency, which came along at just the right time for them.

Now the big influx of talent is ageing so they need to rejuvenate, perhaps they should have made more use of player turnover and tried to get back in to the early part of the draft, they don't have a lot of young talent coming through.

Is it really possible that MFC who have been repeatedly been knocked back for a priority pick in recent years actual pick up one from the trading machinations with Brisbane for Dunne and pickup of Rockliff as well? Would have thought that pick 19 was far more valuable to Brisbane in their current environment. Would be very happy to accept this generosity but it seems to be a bridge to far for me.

This has zero to do with WJ and everything to do with you naming your source.

As soon as I read that you were the nephew of a Fitzroy great and current AFL captain I thought he's the nephew of John Murphy, or at least that was the declaration.

I then saw WJ's post and wondered why he sought clarification, because there was no other scenario.  There was no other choice other than John Murphy.

You outed yourself, which is fine, as it was your choice.

As for the veracity of your claims ?  I have no clue.  I hope they're correct.

You're a smart guy, I don't mind anyone putting the math together, as I gave the deduction.

I stand by what I was told 24 hours ago, I stand by telling my fellow demon supporters and I stand by telling fellow football supporters but also doubters.

The mail I got as of yesterday morning Victorian time is that an agreement hastbeen in place for Melbourne to acquire Tom Rockliff.

I don't get a prize out of posting it, I dont win any money. I'm a fellow demon supporter who regularly posts on demon land, posting info I got. I genuinely do not want to upset/invigorate anyone the wrong way, I'm just spreading info as I got it.

Interesting that in the Rockliff thread there's some posters adamant that we're not going near him.

I've gone from being against it to rather indifferent now.

No doubt he can win the pill but if he falls under the 'no d-heads' policy I'm surprised we're even looking.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
