Jordan Lewis would be sensational for our young on-ball brigade for 1-2 years. Seen as an inside mid but has a beautiful kick, can kick goals, seems to have space in traffic (like Pendles) yet isn't fast.

Lewis has always intensely annoyed me . But all that would be forgotten if he joined the dees.

As you say he is a bit slow, which given we need some pace, is not ideal but most of all we need good ball users and in particular terrific kicks. With our game plan (well all i guess all to be fair) elite kicks are critical. Being a lefty would also assist and i have no doubt that we have followed the hawks' lead by looking to recruit lefties.

Big news out of Carlton with Bryce Gibbs officially requesting a trade to Adelaide.

Now there's a club who's midfield can't take the loss of a player like Gibbs.

I would take Langford in a heartbeat, especially as we should get him at a fairly cheap price.

Hopefully the Hawks have good short-term memory and look after us given we did the same for them when they acquired Fitzy...(yes, that is sarcasm).

Langford no better than ANB

He's contracted until the end of 2019. Not sure what it will take, Carlton will want something like Adelaide's first pick (13 I believe) and a player, maybe McGovern.

Melbourne has left Etihad Stadium after meetings with a number of clubs, including the Brisbane Lions and Essendon today.

There was no deal completed to secure Michael Hibberd from the Bombers, while the Lions made inquiries about defender Lynden Dunn.

Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said forward Chris Dawes did not attract any interest on the opening day of the NAB AFL Trade Period.

It'd make things a lot clearer if coverage of movements (especially on radio) used 'Victoria' instead of 'Melbourne, the city', and just used 'Melbourne' for the FC.

'X player interested in a move to Victoria' is clear. 'X player interested in a move to Melbourne' just confuses people.

Considering the constant speculation surrounding Mitchell moving to Hawthorn, you'd think a comment like "Mitchell is moving to Melbourne" is pretty easy to decipher.

Unless of course you've been living under a rock for the entirety of 2016.

I'm guessing Ess are waiting to see where out 2nd rounder ends up before the argy bargy begins over Hibberd.

it could end up being in the low 30s.

Like every other deal Essendrug has ever done they will string it out till the last in an effort to get the Maximum.

Bit harsh. I was half asleep, but I thought for a moment that was what they meant too.

And now Deledio has asked to be traded to the Cats...

Seriously, Richmond and their players seem to love making themselves look silly, coming out publicly three times in the last 2 weeks and rubbishing rumours he was leaving.

straight swap for Motlop?

Doesn't seem to be .. Richmond apparently has no interest in Motlop.

Yes,  Our 2nd rounder this year is likely to end up being a pick well past 30 when free agency and academy/fatherson selections are factored in.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
