Our defence just sucks.

Hyperbole. Just ridiculous. We're playing against one of the consistently best teams in the league, and yes, they're better. They're also more experienced, and they're also playing on their home ground.

Our effort is good.

Sydney spreading harder and even in these conditions, giving themselves effective options.

I think we'll regroup and get back into it fairly quickly.

How dim can you be to try to bounce the ball in the wet ?

And can we have Tom McDonald kick out more just to really enforce the pain ?

You mean good old wet weather football?

Yeah, clearly a foreign concept to our coaches, despite having an entire week to prepare thanks to that magical invention called "the forecast."

It's amazing that on such a small ground with so much rain that the Swans can be given so much easy space, time, and access to goal by us. Just woeful dumb football. Any chance we had to use the conditions as a leveller have just shown us up.

every time we kick it forward it's a scrappy kick and the swans always get it as they are playing in front

If we can even win the clearances today we are going to get smashed. This is basically the most important thing in today's game given the conditions.

Dumb team. Dumb coaching.

Let McVeigh just go on this own. Let's bounce in the wet. Let's not be smart enough to man up.

We are just not a smart team. We try hard but Sydney is just better in every little aspect that matters.

TBH in these sort of conditions its very hard to tag anyone. Ten around the ball and it gets squeezed out. This game is a raffle

I'm confident we're employing rope a dope here. Swans to be out on their feet by 4th quarter.....a glorious victory ours. (the author retains the right to change his view should it rain goals)

Who the fk is on McVeigh? Just mops up everything that goes forward.

Regular occurrence against us. We don't learn from our mistakes.

Agreed - but if it's a raffle I want the Demons to have the winning ticket.

What do you get when Dawes goes up for a mark in the wet?

A Sydney goal.

Keep them coming.

I hate to say it but Trenners is just so slow. I love him but his lack of pace is really concerning.

Nearly game over in these conditions. And yet again a no name manages to kill us.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
