If he does intend to re-sign, why up to six months? Just like saying to my gal, "I'll marry you but I'll let you know for sure in six months."

Any info regarding length and terms of the deal? i assume it'll be pretty massive?

You are all more than welcome to convince yourselves that this is BS....... be my guest.

My advice...... don't bother, take a deep breath a relax. There is no need to stress about this one any more.

Obviously I can't say anything more.

I've always thought he'd stay, because it just makes sense.  However, your assertion that it 'could' take 6 months is the comment that doesn't make sense.  There's no reason that I can fathom why it would take that long.

The club has publicly stated over time that it will not over-pay a select few to the detriment of list balance. If Jesse does re-sign then it will be at a price that we can afford and not the la-la-land money some in the media have thrown around. He is a cornerstone signing that can only do good things for this club. Now to Tom Mac who I rate as almost as important.

He said 'could take up to 6 months', which does seem a little strange but contract negotiations can take time.

Call me a pessimist but I won't rest easy until he has put pen to paper.

I tend to agree. I mean no doubt there will be back and forth but he has the whip hand.

In any case lets' hope it happens. It would be huge for the club. This is a big statement but i don't think there has been a more important signing for the dees. Ever.

Jesse said he wanted to wait for the CBA the details of which are known by Clubs and will be announced in next month. He, his manager and the club have always said he will stay.  So for Jesse to 'confirm' that and restart negotiations now is no surprise and anyone could make that educated guess.

And, contract negotiations started 12 months ago so both parties have known the ambit claims for a year now and it doesn't take 6 months to work out the finer details.  It sounds like someone (your source, not you) is reading the tea leaves around the CBA announcement timing and hedging their bets by saying it will take 6 months.  A claim by your source that an announcement by EOS would be a lot more convincing!

Edit:  Just read other posts.  'Abe' has asked about deal length and terms etc so some info on this would add some credibility that the source isn't just taking an 'educated' guess.

I'm so used to negativity at Melbourne I had accepted he was leaving and actually convinced myself he wasn't that special and we would be better off with a trade than keeping him. But now.........

You would be wise to maintain that thought right up untill the club announces he has signed

I pretty much read this as - he intends to re-sign so now come the finer points of the  negotiations and there are lots of i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed so it may take some time. News gets out pretty fast and I think it is about managing expectations.

If that was the case the Club would announce it, not leak it via a 3rd party and by an anonymous source on a fan forum!

Why would the Club want to restart speculation and have negotiations take place under the media spotlight.

Because that is what GNF has now done.  Its like throwing fuel on a fire!!

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
