The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here

Never discount the possibility that someone somewhere is LYING to muddy the waters and gain some kind of advantage, and it may be in a deal that does not involve Hogan. It may be that they think it will help their manouvering with McCarthy, or that it will force up Hogan's price with us and screw up our player payments ... who knows.

Did he say whether that was likely to be at the end of this year or next?  IMO, if Hogan doesn't sign up by the end of this season, he's leaving. He'd understand that his early signature/contract is important for the club's list management and potential success, in addition to membership and sponsorship. If he wants success at Melbourne, he'll sign early.

I totally agree with this Mo.  We won't know of course, but I reckon the MFC will be saying by the end of this year, we need to know Jesse, as we have to plan for the future.

but the Freo forum said it! must be true!

Written at the start of April ...

"Hogan, who grew up in Western Australia, may be tempted by the offer to return to his home state with a club that is further along in its chances of securing premiership glory than the struggling Demons."

Ha.

Far out I would gutted if this is true.

people thinking we'll be fine based on 2 untried youngsters are kidding themselves.  Hogan will be one of the top 10 players in the AFL for the next 10 years and losing him could be the difference between winning a flag or not

So could keeping him if the price is too high.

Can't say, as that would reveal the person's name.  And who said it was a "he"?

Unless it is the Snr coach, list manager or head recruiter then it's all crap.  There is no way the whole footy would know who was being brought in or being pushed out.  Especially when it comes to a big fish

the issue with jesse is that in order to 'land' him, freo will have to give up something that we want.

they will have high end draft picks this year, at any rate, but no guarantee that they won't rise up the ladder at the end of the year to be a major contender in 2017.

i don't know what young talent they really could offer for us to lose one of the most exciting kpp talents to ever emerge - jesse is doing things in his first two years that it takes 'normal' kpp forwards up to five years to start to achieve.

he's a freak, and i don't know how freo could possibly satisfy our 'demands' for him.

Being in contention for a flag or not. Making finals or not. Having a strong culture or not. Increasing member numbers or stagnating.

Is this panic room thread padded?

Seriously though, lets weigh up the differences: -

At Fremantle...

  • Retiring and aging Pavlich & Sandilands
  • A freak of a player in Fyfe with huge ?? on his body
  • An aging list - Johnson, Mundy
  • Lack of upcoming development
  • Chris Mayne (eek)
  • Heave ho, way to go....(not even a theme song)
  • Zac Dawson
  • An annoying Ballantyne
  • A wayward Bennell
  • Flying around the country twice every 2nd week.
  • Average surfing spots, Shark sightings.
  • Toothless drugged up violent fans
  • 0-9 record; 68%, 18th position
  • Swan Lager
  • Alan Bond
  • You'd go colour blind looking at a purple haze
  • And a coach who is about to re-develop this aging list which may take several years (no experience in re-developing)...:
  • proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fstream1.gif

At Melbourne...

  • Jones
  • Petracca
  • Oliver
  • Viney
  • Vanden Burg
  • Gawn
  • An ageless Vince
  • Majority of games at the G
  • Good mate Harmes
  • Salem
  • Watts
  • Brayshaw
  • Garlett
  • Jetta
  • Weidemann
  • Trengove
  • Hunt
  • Wagner
  • McDonald x 2
  • Stretch

  • Lumumba
  • Kent
  • Awesome surfing spots - Sth West Coast, VIC.
  • Awesome fans
  • Awesome Theme Song
  • AAMI training precinct
  • Melbourne
  • Tyson

How could this be possible? Still contracted until end of 2017. I believe entering contacts with contracted players is not legal. (Yes I remember voldemort) How valid is an agreement that is illegal? Has the MFC done a trade- NO, so 2018 would be the earliest he could return to WA and a lot can change before then. I'm calling this B U L L S H I T

That is correct MD. However, there is nothing that prevents an "in principal" agreement having been reached with his manager. I would put nothing past Freo after the Lyon snatching. The Demons should be ruthless with this and offer a super long term (6+ year!?) contract to seal the deal at our end IMO. We also need to win every possible game from here and hopefully make finals. All starting this week against the Power away from home.

I'm also hoping that Freo keeps losing, creating turmoil within the Club (and without). One of the rare times i will barrack for the Saints this Saturday. 10 - Zip is going to look like an extremely ugly "send in the administrators!" balance sheet if they lose.

Would anyone of Jessie's calibre really want to join a struggling wooden spooner at the prime of their career with the ugly "Lyon" method of play no longer valid in today's game? They would have to offer a ridiculous sum/overs to obtain him, possibly squeezing out the chance of putting a decent team around him (if he did accept) going forward, limiting their (and Jessie's) potential chance of any medium term success.

Surely not?!

Yep their supporters are that stupid.

Other suggestions were Lachie Neale but i've heard he's going to re-sign with the Dockers within a week or so.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
