Salem for Kent the only change.

Dissapointing no ANB, his more of a direct swap for Kent

Williams (debut) for Adams for them.

Thank Christ Lin Jong isn't playing. That guy owns us.

As nutbean said on the previous page, he's played against us twice. Once for 9 disposals, once for 14. Where has this bizarre theory come from?

IIRC Lin Jong played well in the last 2 NAB Challenge games against us.     Anyway he's not playing so we can relax.

I am happy with this change. I think it creates a bit of flexibility with our defence. Salem is more than capable of providing a forward line threat as well.

Me too!  By 2:00pm on Sunday, I expect to be so nervous I could have a colonoscopy without the per-med

That's not 'nervous', that's just ... ew!!

'Nervous' is colonoscopy without the bowel prep.

(Hope yours went OK, pre-med or not!)

It's the way he got his 9 and 14 disposals.

kicks goals aganist us, takes species and will be a nuisance we don't have to worry about.

No Lin Jong = we win

also maybe ANB isn't getting a game because he has things to work on?

how is he defensively? For all we know his opponents could be running riot

I was a bit mystified by this  - which game in particular made you both jump to this conclusion.

He has played against us twice - both last year.

First game he had 9 touches and in the second game he had 14 touches. Not that I draw too much from supercoach but he was rated 2nd worst on ground in his first outing and 5th worst on ground in his second).

Nut you beat me to it?  Read it this morning,  haven't had chance to post Dpnt put facts, what are you trying to do ruin the teputation of Demonland

My take on the game, I think we will try and make it a stoppage game    don't want to get involved in a shootout

I assume that they will play Salem in defence, so what else changes? Having Michie, Wagner, Hunt and Jetta as well makes me wonder if we have one to many small backmen. Would they possibly play Salem forward?

ANB not in again, what a joke.

I think he will walk at years end, better player than a few out there and playing good footy at Casey all year and they keep over looking him.

Im baffled by this.

They played Vince of HBF a bit last week, I think Salem will take that role and Vince will go more forward.

I hope they run Salem through the middle a bit.

Possibly, although I still feel as though we have gone in with one to many across half back, unless they plan on changing a few things up for this week.

I'm baffled by the surprise. Roos singled out Michie twice for his performance on the weekend. Was never going out this week, despite how little some supporters think of him. Stretch the only other real candidate which was also unlikely. ANB is very stiff but a chance should come. We're merely a third of the way into the season.

I'd feel safer having Dunn or O Mac as another tall option in defence. Pedo may find himself back there a bit more often. Continuing with both Hunt AND Wagner is flirting with danger in my view but we'll wait and see. They both played okay on the weekend

TBH, I don't look at Salem as a backmen, I think he is wasted there and is not a great defender, he tries, but he doesn't know the craft well enough. He should be on a wing or in the middle, he'll he even kicks goals, put him more forward.

I tend to agree. He can be damaging forward of centre and could prove more to the side in such a role.

The argument for him in defence is his disposal, but defensively he's been a liability.

Well, for starters, there are only 22 players in a team, so for him to come in, someone has to go out. And that someone has to go out in a position that he can fill.

Not sure who that might be for the moment.

Great to see the selectors sticking with Mitchie and Stretch after only OK games last week. It sends a message to ANB that when he does get in (which he will eventually), he'll be given every chance.

I have no problems with sticking with a winning team and only making the change because of injury.

The coaches obviously have a plan or two prepared to cover the defence depending on how the game unfolds. We do have flexibility with players like Pedersen and even Watts to swing back there if required. The main weapon for the defence will be if we can be first to the ball and win it out of the midfield. To that end we have maximised the number of players we can run through the middle with 14 or 15 players capable of taking turn there as required.

Forward and midfield defensive pressure with speed on the turnover in both attack and defence will win this for us.

ANB will get his chance and when he finally does I expect he will be hitting it hard.

You get dropped from this team for whatever reason and you will find it hard to battle your way back in. No one in this team wants to give up their position unless they have to.

Dees by 4 goals after a tight first three quarters.

ANB stuck something like 14 tackles last week, and always has high tackle numbers to go with his possessions and goals.

He must be frustrated and he has every right, there is nothing else he could have done.

In previous years he would have been in. We are however a stronger side this year. He will get his chance. Besides JT a former captain, who is on the comeback trail, we have another former Captain, who like ANB is playing good footy, but can't get a look in.

Good sides have good players in the reserves.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
