Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 6

I agree with a lot of what is posted on this site, some more eloquent than others and some a lot funnier than others but I think deep down we all knew that the Saints game was a Danger game for the Dee's, the difference now from the past is that we are all expecting to win every game that we go into and that is a bit of a dilemma as we all soar when we win and we plumb the depths when we lose. Being a Demon over the past 10 years has really been "HELL". The transition in game plans between total defense and total attack will take a bit of time but we now have the players on our list and we are all impatient for them to reach maturity and their full potential and in the mean time we continue to bang our heads against the Wall.

You re missing the point entirely. Its not losing. Its the way we lost and the inability of the coaches to change what clearly wasnt working. And very inconsistent performance by the players. And 14 uncontested marks in their fwd 50. That kind of stuff.

Thanks for your soothing words though.

Jesse gets 8 AFLCA votes.  Only Melb player to get votes.  Fair representation of the game.

Jesse has learnt that his on-field sulks aren't necessary to have a great game. Good on him for quickly learning to change his behaviour.

I do get your point Junior, I think that everyone who attended that game would have felt the same frustrations as you about our inability to change the way that we were playing, I saw the same sort of frustration on the coaches faces whilst watching the replay so what is the answer?

“When you play a side it’s probably better to play them coming off a good win because naturally in footy you get pretty happy and all that sort of stuff,” Billings told foxsports.com.au.

“We knew they were probably expecting to win so we knew if we came out and just went hard at the ball, hard at the man we were a chance.”

Well that just says it all. What had the team done to exhibit such hubris?Beaten a few lowly teams. I thought the hollywood days at the dees were over. Obviously not!

This loss was purely down to players work rate. I have a friend who works at the club and can pass on that the coaching staff singled out a few players in the review. Guys like Kent and Harmes didn't put in, mids didn't push back hard enough. They were also livid at Tmac not following instructions. He was told to stick closer to Reiwoldt after qtr time but kept trying to guard space and cut off attacks (unsuccessfully). He seems to have developed an ego and taking things on himself. Unsure if he will be dropped because we don't have any other decent tall defenders as coverage, but they're very unhappy with his attitude.

Noticed TMac call his own rotations a couple of times too....

Good stuff LT.

I am tipping 5 changes this week..  due to what you just said and due to the fact we have tired players and its going to be 27 degrees this Saturday on the Gold Coast.

If true thats quite [censored] poor from Tom McDonald. But im not surprised. Fat ego has obviously got the better of him. And to think he us in our leadership group.

Was howled down during the pre season for saying he will leak far too many easy goals through trying to be cute and not keeping it simple.

Wish we did have a decent back up.. Id drop him in a heart beat. Unless they want to pull their finger out and maybe give Frost a go down back like we originally recruited him for..

To Goody and our recruiting staff, sell anything to get Hurley over.

Thanks for letting us in on that. Very interesting stuff. It both comforting to know that the coaches were as concerned as we were but frightening that we have players who fail to follow instructions. Some players are not 'coachable' in that they consistently fail to follow instructions (I remember hearing that from a coach about why we delisted Simon Buckley).

It perhaps explains why the coaches were looking so miffed and why last year Roos said the players didn't listen to him when it came to covering Oxley (in the game where he had 14 marks).

I guess he was not telling them to play like they did on the weekend. So the only solution is to get guys in who put the hard work in and do what they are supposed to do.

Selection will be very interesting this week indeed.

I made the point earlier about Kent going missing in our two bad losses and why its important to look at the players who don't perform in losses. We simply have to weed them out regardless of how good they are in our wins. We need players who will stand up when we are being beaten and help change the course of the game.

Interesting. He'll want to stick close to Lynch this week and check his ego if that is indeed the case. Maybe Jack tried to shake it out of him in the pre-season..

Appreciate the info LT, although I wish that people who worked at the club would be more discrete about what they know.

We all complain about the spin which comes from coaches and players in post-match press conferences and the like, but there's a reason why they don't reveal the inner thoughts of the FD to supporters and the general public.

This word about Tmac is concerning, but it 'feels' correct after having watch the match. I just struggle to believe that a coach with Roos' experience would continue to let Riewolt on the loose like that.

Don't be surprised if you find that TMac was carrying an injury on Saturday. Hopefully he is 95-100% fit for the trip north as we need him firing. The other scenario is that he will need to be replaced (not dropped) this weekend.

Funny you should mention that ww

I was watching and thought he was going up and down in the one spot.

He has probably the biggest tank in the team but seemed slow on Saturday.

He wasn't actually. I watched him twice call to the bench to come off right in front of me. Wasn't moving well.

Just requoting, worth rereading. Especially the first sentence ... and the "not following instructions" bit.

If not moving well, then the logical movie is to shift him up forward and move Frost back. Crime to play an injured defender when he can't run with someone like Riewoldt. If Lord's info has any currency then the coaches may have not believed he was injured.

In other news Hodge out for 6 weeks. He should miss our clash which I think we are in for a good crack. Especially since they don't have a power forward at the moment

Well well Why am I not Surprised Tommy Mac getting ahead of him self?  If true one only one thing only to do to send a powerful message!

DROP HIM!

Garland comes in !

Sounds like Harmes & Kent in gun.

Plenty playing well at Casey 5 changes this week I reckon ! Time to send a strong message, Roosy, " Play my way, or you'll be on the Sth Gippy Highway" To CASEY!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
