Very hard to allocate votes when I feel gutted and we had so many passengers, but:

6.  Hogan:  a standout.  We would have been obliterated without him.

5.  Jones:  a warrior, but Viney aside, he had very little help around the stoppages.

4.  Viney:  see Jones.  They can't do it all on their own.

3.  Watts:  worked hard and did a few nice things in a team that was well beaten.  He would have been one of the first to go missing 12 months ago.

2.  Gawn:  probably just broke even with Hickey.

1.  Kennedy: a trier, and bobbed up a bit.

6 - Hogan - do I need to give a reason.

5 - Viney - his 3rd term should have turned the game if the others came along.

4 - Jones - I love that when we play bad he just comes out and leads by example.

3 - Watts - presented well - where has his marking gone though.

2 - Tyson - rounding out a really good centre clearance team.

1 - Gawn - was below his par but above par for any other ruck.

My worry with the votes is that our centre 4 and our 2 tall forwards are coming up in the votes again and again. I don't think we are getting enough from the others around the ground.

Everyone seemed tired.   IMO Gawn is easily the main reason we're doing better this year, but if we don't get serious help in for him soon, I predict he'll go down injured and we'll be seriously screwed.

Peder/Frost give Max a break, but they also give the opposition rucks a break because they're easy to ruck against.

Shouldn't have traded Stef Martin.  I'm not a Spencer fan at all, but he needs to practice goal kicking like crazy & replace Peder/Frost.  He'll hurt & tire the opposition when rucking,  so the opposition will have less energy to battle Max, Max will perform better and be more likely to survive without injury.

Our back 6 has been unfairly maligned after this game. We just need to show intensity around the ball otherwise it makes our attacking press look really stupid.

I reckon they'll ring in the changes a week late but with the longer break, I hope they give the same blokes a shot at redemption.

No team can maintain two All-Australian level ruckmen and both Gawn and Martin seem to be the type of guys that thrive on their own

Dean Cox and Nik Nat?

Posted (edited)

Maybe. Nik Nat was a bit of an unknown quantity at that stage. Martin and Gawn are both in their prime, it would be virtually impossible to maintain.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
