Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't know..............the compo pick for Sylvia (= Bernie) has to be right up there too

I forgot about that.

Both times we got something special for what was essentially nothing.

Remind me - what did we give away for Jeff?

Malthouse has really destroyed that club - surely an Eddie Trojan horse plant. (There was a great cartoon to this effect which I have lost).

How would you compare Garlett with other small forwards of the past: Vardy, Farmer, Davey, not to mention Barry Vagg?

Excuse my modesty!  But, Clearly Vagg is way out on top in those stakes!  Oh, and it's "Barrie", too, young bushie!

But, yeah, Jeffie aint bad either!

I love it how all the Dees supporters get half off our seats every time Garlett gets it inside 50. You just KNOW something is going to happen.

Considering he wasn't  getting into Carlton's 22, he has skill and class,  and we got him for tne cost of a pair of jocks and a singlet - brilliant. And to think Carlton and Malthiuse were the idiots who let him go only makes me feel even better.

Jeffy is one of the best recruits for the dees in the time i have followed us (more than 40 years). One of the reasons is as you say it is so exciting to watch him play and he has the x factor that one of my all time favorites had (the WIz).

But what makes it such a brilliant recruiting coup (for that is what it its is) is that with the current high press game plan that is the modern template the small forward is more important than ever as they have so much space to run into when the ball gets turned over at half back and rebounds the other way.

The legacy of malthouse at the blues is that he completely misread what was happening in modern footy and got rid of 2 of the best 3 small forwards in the game (and Waite for good measure).

If you are THE Barrie Vagg then you are one of my pop idols of the 60's. I remember speaking to you at a Fed Square gathering of legendary demons a couple of years ago. I do notice from old stats that you missed a few 'snaps' in the '64 grand final though!

Has earned a pay rise - speed and class, that check-side kick was sublime, to improve his set shot he should run away from goal, he is at 85-90% with anything at '9' level of difficulty.

Awesome news, no mention of Tyson being out of contract this year, maybe he signed for 4 years when we got him

Could've been an oversight re:Tyson.

Although the length of contract of the Tyson trade was never made public, somone on here was pretty confident he was out of contract this year.

Having said that, the author could be right and Tyson might still have another year left. He's a priority signings and was fantastic v's Richmond.

Jeffy is key to us pushing ahead and playing finals footy. At 26 years of age he could be looking for a 4 year deal. Worth every penny right now.

What is interesting is that we have 12 players out of contract. Obviously some of these form the natural attrition required to free up spots for the draft. But tmac, garlett, kent, watts, jetta and even pedo are currently best 22. Trenners could also get back in there. The dees have some work to do and it starts with Jeffy.

Nah, Bushie.  Definitely not the original.  Like you, Barrie was one of my favourite players back in the 60's.  Of a Saturday arvo I'd perch myself on the floor in front of the old Radiogram, sheet of paper in hand, upon which I'd love to record every Melb goal.  Of course, the name "Vagg" featured prominently!  Great memories!

Just great for the team to now have someone like Jeffie running around in our forward line, strutting his stuff!

Would hate to be a Carton fan. At least we damaged our ex-players enough to not have to see them perform elsewhere.

Stef Martin and Jamie Bennell are two obvious exceptions, but yep - hilarious.

Geez I love Garlett. He's the most exciting/electric Demon we've had since Farmer.

Jeff brings more than goals to himself. The hand pass he got off to Kent last week for the goal was built off a hell of a lot of hard work and that wasn't a one off

That wasn't a handpass lol

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
