Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where does Chris Dawes fit in all this?

Named in the backline for Casey this week. Is his role changing? Will be interesting to see how he goes down back

So Frosty Is a backman and Dawes Is a forward. Leys My phone IS killing me!!!!!!! Lets play them out of position who kmows we might get lucky

Dawes might be too slow in the forward line. Last roll of the dice is in defense.

Frost ahould never be in the forward line. Doesn't have the skill.

Come on guys, if you take any notice of the Casey lineups on selection day you will know on match day they don't line up anything like this...Dawes will play forward.

Dawes is an automatic in for me... his inclusion gives us another marking target who is rarely beaten (yes he could mark more of them too), which provides another option to Jesse and Jack. Plus I think his playing alongside Jesse will allow Jesse to learn quicker without the pressure of being the "captain" of the forward line, a role Dawes can do well.

no one is really an automatic in...should be on form and positional balance.

If Dawes could stick a mark...hed be a gem

Dawes is prone to injury a lot trhese days, putting faith in him is not warranted ang if he sustains another hammy injury he shold do the club a favour and retire.Until Petracca comes on Frost will be used at both ends of the ground which you cannot say that for Dawes yet. ……. never say never.

I am confident he gets a warm glow from the $2+ million he has been paid over the last four years that helps make up for the injury time.

You seem to have an issue with the money he's earning. Whilst it can't be argued his output has matched his earnings, it's not his fault what he gets paid and injuries are part and parcel of the game.

Please feel free to name any player we have lost or missed out on due to Chris Dawes pay packet and you may be justified in your angst.

Or are you more upset that Rohan Bail missed out on extra $100k? Because we actually have to pay a certain percentage of the cap...

Nope, just a fact. And quite rightly I might add. Another in the Watts category that rarely gets credit for his off the ball efforts. The entire 22 can't kick 6 goals and have 30 possessions. We would be better than the threepeat premiers of late if they did. Sometimes players sacrifice their game for the team, something Chris does every time he is asked and as Viv did on the weekend despite many calling for him to be dropped. It's a TEAM sport people

You can't just be a player who ONLY contributes with off the ball efforts. Frost was all about off the ball efforts, and the FD finally woke up to the fact that he's a liability up forward.

And I don't think that Dawes has much of a game to sacrifice. He's proven to be ineffective when he's our main key forward.

I agree with Fifty Five, he's actually competing with Watts for a position, and I don't see Watts getting dropped in a hurry.

Seems that he has really added something to the side over the last 2 weeks. Has straightened us up and played slightly better than Pedo.

Thoughts?

Not far away from the truth bandicoot. He needs to back it up in the weeks to come but he has certainly straightened us up and added something positive to the side.

IMO Dawes is competing for Watts place in the forward line.  Unless he rucks which seems improbable, he's not competing with Pedersen.

I consider him definitely competing with Pedersen (Hulett, Weideman, Frost) rather than Watts. To me Watts is the automatic third tall!

The Pedo/Dawes argument continues.

If Dawes could ever regain his best form (we havent seen it at the demons yet) then he would easily be in our best 22.

I dont think he ever will regain that form. I would love us to find a genuine 3rd Tall/Ruck and delist both Pedo and Dawes.

As someone who has a low opinion of him I have to say he was useful yesterday.

he even took an overhead mark .

However  a few are going a bit over the top.

One swallow does not make it summer.

Has given us far more, both with and without the ball, than Pedo or Frost in that same role this year.

I will have to disagree - Pedo has marked, kicked goals, dropped down back when needed and done effective ruck work.

Runs very hard to provide an option, workrate has never been his problem.

Pleased with his last two games. Is never going to dominate and kick a bag, but provides a good leadup option and is far better defensively than any other tall forward on our list.

He and Pedo are interchangeable. It isn't a debate any longer is it? Who comes in should be dictated purely by form.

Was a mixed bag for Dawesy yesterday but I like his second efforts. He looked fit.

He also seems a very positive influence on the ground in terms of how he gets around the younger players.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
