Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

When I saw him kick it from fifty on the run, I knew it was our day.

Frost. On the run. From 50.

Can't be sure but that move may have been controlled from the box or the MFC Official at the interchange. Doesn't matter it was brilliant. When was the last time we have seen a move like that.

Interesting in Jones' interview at the end of the game when they were talking about big Max...Jones described him as 211cm; has Max grown another 3cm or is Jones talking him up (see what I did there)?

Kennedy has been a revelation and Lumumba looks far better this year already, maybe his ankles were holding him back in 2015?

I was massively unimpressed with Lumumba after the Essendon game, but he has been very important to our run out of defence the last 2 weeks.

Great to get the win, but really, don't get ahead of ourselves.  Some of the turnovers were horrific and until we get these out of our game we will continue to be hit and miss.

Frost is like a 3 year old Colt, might need to be gelded to get that consistency.  The open goal that should have been in the last minute of the 3rd, what a goal it would have been he just got a little bit excited.

Happy with the win, need to improve for next week.

I agree there were some bad turnovers. Having said that and everyone saying how poor cwood were, they did tackle quite a lot and very hard. What Im saying is their tackling pressure wasnt bad and the turnovers were on par for that. Full credit to us for fighting through the pressure the pies put on us in the third quarter.

but just think how close we could have been to 4-0

Yep thats what makes the dons loss so bad. Two wins and going the distance against north in their tassie fortress is a good start.

Pretty sure it would've been a cheap behind the play punch in the guts. Not sure how Ch 7 missed it.

i'll bet they didn't. they have plenty of other cameras on different angles

I thought after the first break it was the greatest intensity Collingwood brought all year. We didn't adjust our style accordingly (overuse) but we didn't get overwhelmed or drop our intensity too much either which was pleasing.

Watching the Watts on ground interview after the match and he mentions H speaking to him about the 2010 Premiership and about belief (which you can very much picture Lumumba doing) and then there is the shot of the Melbourne players walking off the ground and their are a lot of hugs and back slaps for H. Perhaps he could be one of those players whose worth is valued way more than what they just produce on the field.

I am becoming a big fan of his

I was a fan the day he chose to join us.  All the noise out of Collingwood about him being troublesome was ridiculous.  He was mocked there for being outspoken, thoughtful, eloquent and for having decent morals.  With such cerebral types as Travis 'Ian Baker-Finch' Cloke, Dane Swan and even Buckley getting stuck into him you can understand his desire to leave that neanderthal pack.  He is a very good footballer and a very good role model and Collingwood did not value this.  Roos did.  MFC did.  It looks like our players do.  I love the guy.  Frustrates at times but very few don't when trying to improve as our club from where we have been.  Love the H fndee!

I think the 2016 fewer interchange open running style suits him way better than the rugby maul seagulls-fighting-over-a-chip style that was played over the last few years.

I too was unimpressed after round 2 but was hopeful that we could turn on the same stuff we showed in the last quarter against GWS. And we have, and it works, and it suits H. It suits most of our players.

You could see C'wood yesterday trying to close it down into a greco roman wrestling match but unfortunately for them, we're now better at that than they are.

Great win, was one that kept saying to my Col mate that we could still lose this, and he just said we play really exciting footy.  So happy we didnt crumble, maybe we have truned a corner, but they need to back it up this weekend.

On a side note, had a Canadian bloke behind me with his son, (I'm from Canada and people think I'm slow eh.) so spent a fair amount of time explaining the rules during the game, which i didn't mind doing.  Has anyone ever tried to explain our game to someone that has absolutely no idea what is happening? I struggled a bit with it but in the end he had a great time and was even getting into the "BALL" shouting, but i suspect he was just following the crowd.

Two quick questions re. umpiring decisions. The touched off the boot Treloar point that went to the goal review after a marking contest. Is this within the laws of review system? It seems if a field umpire calls touched then it could have an impact on the following contest. And the Frost free on the 3/4 time. Pedo picks up the ball after the free is awarded and is absolutely dumped. Can 50m be awarded to the kicker if a teammate is impinged in the process of returning the ball? Just curious (Read: I was one of those with a chunk of cash on a 39+ win).

Yes free kicks can be awarded until the umpire says it is all over.

For example, if you are having a shot after the siren and a team mate nearer to goal is dumped, he can get a free kick.

Can't agree re Bugg. Had a ton of tackles and is tough as old boots. Agree it will be tough finding someone to make way.

i reckon young clayton looked tired today and ineffectual. Great kid but could do with a spell - it's a long season for a first year player.

Wrong.  Totally composed.  Every touch.

I once went to a game with a mate from the states and tried explaining the rules.

I gave up at 3 quarter time after multiple instances of near-identical holding the ball decisions were made differently by different umpires.

Just glad I didn't have to see the North game with him. I struggle to explain some of those calls to myself...

The 2 of them were pretty good, the kid was understanding a lot quicker and i heard him explaining some thing to his dad a few times.  It really makes you think how complex the game really is, especially when their main sport is ice hockey.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
