Ah, missed that. Apologies.

And that's the first I heard Adelaide bidding pick 7. Interesting. I thought they were excluded from the first two rounds that year.

Port Adelaide, not Adelaide I think.

But Port picked Wines as their first rounder. I'm confused.

Yep, port used their first pick to bid on Jack Viney. After that failed, they picked Ollie Wines.

It was Port.

Puts an interesting spin on the Wines story - he was essentially their third choice!

Put a Port in the front of it and it'll work.

Was just mentioned on SEN that Hurley is 50/50 to be at Essendon and Melbourne is a massive chance due to the Simon Goodwin relationship..

Giddy up!

Geez we need this one. Add another class outside mid either by trade or draft/development and we have the makings of a side well and truly capable of finals.

Solely dependent on Hurley being allowed to void his contract, as he's already signed up until the end of 2017.  Can't see Essendon rolling over and can't see the AFL being too helpful either.

Damn you DD. Don't get our hopes up like that, and then demoralise us with the post above.

I was of the understand the 12 banned players were able to leave at the end of serving their 12 months ban, irrespective of when their current contract ended. They would be treated as de-listed free agents if they chose to leave.

My understanding is that is something of an untested hypothetical.  In theory, there is a clause that could potentially make them de-listed free agents, but it would definitely be vigorously contested.

i don't think that has actually been approved officially so it is still supposition. it was aflpa's opinion

doubt essendon would go to court on it, but who knows. if a player doesn't want to be there in this environment doesn't make sense to force him

This makes sense. From what I remember reading it had to do with the AFLPA confirming the suspended players were free to quit Essendon.

My guess is the AFL wont approve it as it will mean Essendon will be down the bottom for even longer (If more players decide to leave).

Interesting.

Last week Slobbo was banging on about Essendon retaining 10/12 of the drug cheats.

The only 2 that weren't coming back were Pears and Howlett, only because Essendon didn't want them.

If Robbo is saying he is a chance to leave it probably isn't far off the truth, he is a mad Bombers fan and wouldn't be passing on bad information about Essendon.

Hypothetically if he wants to come to us, and doesn't/cannot void his contract what would you entertain in the form of a trade?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
