Fathers should be role models for their sons. However having seen that inglorious photo one see that this is not always possible and can understand how difficult it would be for his son to ring him up and say "dad, can you give me any good advice as to how I can best conduct myself in public?"

I think the problem is that he has taken his fathers advice!

This may come as a shock Ernest but I have not read  all of your books  as they are so depressing I have stopped trying.

The MFC of the last 50 years has provided me with all the depression I can handle.

Can you make a come back and write something cheerful?

That's interesting OD, I do not find them depressing but rather I find readers reaction very much imitates their own mood state. If you want to read something a little lighter then I recommend my 1926  work The Sun Also Rises, later published in England as Fiesta, a title that I did not like. If you do not like that one, then find another author as I am not your man. Remember when reading my work, it's not what I have written but what lies beneath. The words are just the tip of the iceberg so to speak, and that two thirds lie beneath the surface. So perhaps OD you need to tackle your own demons!                                         However I can recommend a good rum if you wish.

I will leave the choice of beer to curry

I note that the former incessant chatter on Demonland that we should have drafted, or at least interviewed, Dustin Martin seems to have stopped. I wonder why?

I have no idea why LDC can you fill me in?

To be fair, the information I was told about Dusty's father before he was drafted was completely wrong. I was told he was with the Comancheros.

Now there is a lesson LDC never believe everything you are told.

"Well, son, first thing is, keep yer car in good nick. Don't give the coppers no excuse to pull yer over. if yer do get pulled over, don't say nuffink. Second thing, don't carry a knife or a gun on yer. Yer don't need 'em. We've got people to do that for yer. An' if they take yer down the station, try to get word to one of "our" coppers. An' get rid o' them chopsticks. They'll get yer inta trouble one day."

Dusty is a fine footballer.  Obviously he has some conflicting concepts in his mind,  but he looks to me like he is working his way thru those slowly.  To me he is a good person.  Maturing amongst peers healthier than he would have been exposed to when young.

If Dustin Martin was not a footballer he would be on a plane as well.  Happy to see Australia get rid of these scumbags and out of our way.  They add nothing to society and give others grief in life!!!

Anybody who has a tattoo above the shoulders is dead from the neck up...

good riddance.

Well said Mr Trump.

Well, Martin is probably short for Martinez, and I don't know about you, but I for one am sick of illegal Mexican immigrants taking the place of homegrown Aussie players on AFL lists.

Aussie rules for Aussies I say!

I heard a Richmond official on SEN this morning saying Dustin was at a low ebb over this and they were helping him through this period.

Is there ever a period that they are not helping him through?

He must consume more of their time than the over 39 on their list.

That's actually pretty funny old Dee. Could you imagine being another player on the list going through an off field drama? ''I know your wife's left you, it's just that our welfare team are all flying to Christchurch with Dustin to meet his Dad. You'll be right."

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
