A win against the odds

Take it though

Take the win but still some worrying signs for the season in terms of disposal. But we dropped the equivalent game last year against the Bombers and beat a pretty strong Port last week so I'd say we've improved a little bit. Hopefully the guys are at least building some belief and winning habits.

What? Against the odds? We played a VFL side.

These are games we would always find ourselves losing last year (Carlton, Essendon, St Kilda). Although it was far from a perfect performance, the fact we fought our way back into the game shows that we're starting to learn how to win against the odds and against teams we should beat. Scrappy win, but I'll take it anyday.

Biggest positive of this game, Clayton Oliver! I remember seeing Wines on debut against us in 2013 and just thinking "Oh [censored]!" Well I think Oliver has been just as impressive as Wines was. Even that last play of the game, most kids would have been pinged for HTB, Oliver gets a kick away.

Bugg was excellent, but unfortunately I remember Kennedy's floaters when he was at Collingwood.

Let's hope vandenBerg's injury isn't serious. Given his history and reaction when coming off, I'm nervous.

We're you watching. Our disposal was woeful

Dogs should have seen it up.

Much work to do yet

Not overly impressed... Playing a Bulldogs outfit missing up to 10 of their best 22 and it took us into the 2nd half to run over the top of a bunch of kids that ran out of legs all the while we were missing who ? Hogan & brayshaw from our best side ?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
