Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Now you see why I laughed at everyone that had him in their best 22 for Round 1.

Great to have someone who can forecast injuries.  Let's see your list for the coming year so we can plan around it.

I don't think terribly many people had Dawesy pencilled in on the teamsheet let alone inked. And I'd include the mfc f'd in that !!

Wish the bloke well and it seems he might have a talent as an early apprentice coach but his footy days are over.

At least he cares about the club.  He trains his guts out week in, week out and doesn't have much luck.

Yes, he needs to kick more goals.  Yes, he needs to improve his marking.  But if we had a team full of blokes that trained as hard as he does and give everything they had for the club as he does then we wouldn't go far wrong.

It's hardly his fault his body has betrayed him, nor is it his fault that we splashed the cash to get him.  We thought he was worth it at the time.

Regardless of his status in the side I think it's sad to see him break down again.

It was inevitable. At least we also have Pedersen who can get through a game.

I was going to say Frosty, but I quiver at the thought of him breaking something that will keep out for a season.

Ok I was harsh in my opening post, but the guy, as you have stated, needs to kick more goals, improve his marking,

I don't care how well he trains, how much he tries,he just hasn't got it.Week in week out he just doesn't make a difference.

I know it's not his fault that his body has let him down, nor that we splashed the cash, but if he can't perform, why do we persist

in playing him?Lets face it,he doesn't do anything outstanding like an angus,or a Hogan,he is just there.rating 5/10.

This team has gone beyond him now,We are really going to pick it up this year, and there is no place for wannabees.

Dawes suffers calf injury

Should have traded this bloke, waste of space.

I cry whenever I see him in the team.

Anyway, makes space for our brilliant up and comer's.

How about you put yourself in his shoes and attempt to understand how frustrated the bloke must be. He clearly wants to perform and help the team ffs.

I don't get the vindictiveness against players who break down through injury.

If you don't believe he is up to it then that's fine.  The discussion around Dawes and his place in the team has been done many, many times.  Some like him and believe that, when fit, he is best 22.  Others don't.  There is nothing wrong with that.

But there is no need to pot the bloke and call him a waste of space.  It's not necessary.

I was watching Dawes closely today and thought he was going well. He goes out of his way to educate the younger players such as Weiderman and King and when you consider that both these guys are his potential replacements/competitors for his position that shows a whole lot of class . He took a couple of good grabs and was running hard until the injury. He did the calf pretty close to where I was standing and he knew immediately that it was serious. Gotta feel for the guy.

This is sad news. Particularly as the club was being careful about his leg issues. He just can't seem to get a clean run at it.

He may not be a lock in for CHF FF and his marking hadn't been reliable, but nevertheless it is sad to see him as a result of another / same injury being, again, unable to show us if he has improved and earned his place. Especially being the last year of his contract.

As pointed out above he has always given his all and has always given guidance to the younger players.  Would he be offered some sort of coaching / mentoring rôle?

Great opportunity for Pedersen and Frost, and later on in the season maybe Weideman or even Huelett

I see Dawesy now in the same position as Jamar last season...  spare parts as the transitioning rolls along gathering speed.

Gawn finally took over from Jamar after 5 years on the list. I'm not sure we have a 2nd key forward and/or a ruck forward in the same situation. Pedersen and Frost will be used, but I'm not convinced either will solve the problem long term and Max King/Mitch King/ Weideman/Hulett are a while off.

I don't know what the future is for Dawes, it's still a long time before that has to be decided, but this could be more like Jamar 2012/2013 than last year when the replacement finally took over.

When your getting to the wrong age of 27 and your having recurring calf problems then you can almost kiss your career goodbye.

going on his recent seasons form with us & at the pies,  I think he's past it.

I have Pedro in the pocket, ahead of Dawes on the mfc pecking list.  with Frost & TMac inline for cameo's CHF.  Hogan from the GSquare leading up

Not great sinking the boots into a player based on injury... Calf issues are hard to get rid off & history shows they keep on re occurring..

Lets not forget he come to our club in our darkest days & attracting A graders was  pie in the sky stuff... Though need to support our players!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
