Anyone else get the feeling this might become a much bigger issue in 10 years time when the players start showing some serious side effects of the experimental drugs and drug combinations.

I mean dank thought they were race horses.

Yes. I've heard people in the pharmaceutical and medical spheres expressing amazement that players were given off label, not approved for human use, drugs, in doses above any known testing regime (where such even existed), and "stacked" (ie, in combinations).

Especially when one Dank patient in an NRL club, who was in remission after a bout of cancer, was given a growth hormone.

Which is why it was very strange to see EFC holding the line that "but we know that none of it was harmful", and not going full steam after Dank to demand exactly what he gave.

It is disgraceful that the Leader of the Opposition (our alternative Prime Minister) is effectively undermining CAS's decision, without any consideration for the clean sportspeople that represent our country.

He clearly hasn't read the judgement so appears a bit of an uninformed dill!

Distilled calumny

That is not the import of what I heard him say

" Stalin was a hero.... "                               as a quote

" Stalin was a hero to many people "         as the full quote

Dog-whistle reaction to Susan Ley's ridiculous assertion that this mess is the result of Labor's "political interference"

Dank is really annoying me, if he had smoking gun evidence that cleared him or EFC he would have used it, he's just an egotistical [censored] who is so far in over his head that reality has become a very strange and distant idea, and James Hird is also there.

At the risk of sounding positive,I think we might be able to beat Essendon this year.

That is what we thought last year and the fixed us up without much trouble in the pre season game

Having now found time to read the complete judgement, and read most of the posts on here, I have to say what a fine job CAS have done, together with WADA/ASADA in all this, especially McDevitt who held the line in spite of incredible vitriol and personal abuse. It also shows large sections of the Australian Press and the AFL in an extremely poor light. CAS/WADA investigation was clearly very thorough, and to have it all laid out in such stark reality, just demonstrated how scandalous it all was. In the end they had no choice about the verdict and the penalty.

The question is what next. No doubt there will be a parade of legal action from all sides which will keep the courts busy for some time and leave Essendon, the AFL, and indeed the game itself very much worse off than it would have been had Hird fallen on his sword in 2013.

Whether WADA/ASADA now move against Hird is an open question. I know in the comments post the judgement ASADA said this case is now closed, but that could simply mean the case against the players is now closed and not open to further appeal. It does not necessarily preclude further action against Hird and others. In any case, I think it is possible that at least some of the offended parties will launch legal action against their former coach.

They have a big scalp and know that no one will employ him again.

Why bother with the exception of a few people the world knows what he is.

Zero expectations.

Ever loss is accounted for by " we was robbed WADA did us in".

If they pull of a couple of wins he looks good achieving them with a seconds side.

Because the people primarily responsible for this monstrosity need to be punished.  Hird was the originator and principle promoter of this program, in my view far more responsible for it than any of the players, but to get to him there first needed to be proof that the violations actually occurred. Now that that has been established, it is imperative that those truly responsible are tried and punished.

Full just said this finding may have been a 10-20% chance after the AFL tribunal. He is clearly delusional about what has happened and what was going to happen. Idiot!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
