Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not even just a sense of where to run but to gut run and keep running until the 'play' is finished. Someone said that run was from wing, thought it started deeper in defence and he keep on pushing through each line as he saw space open up in front in him and he didn't leave it to 'someone else' to finish it off.

Great to watch.

A football brain. Another rarity over the last 50 years.

I really liked what I saw. Another natural footballer, who also appears to possess determination to succeed.

Think about it further.

Petracca, Neal-Bullen, Oliver.

All Mid/Half Forward types, who hit the scoreboard when up forward. And none of them soft.

Ok, none are proven, but you can certainly see where our recruiting staff have been going here. A clear strategy to add players who can add value in more than one position, even if its only creating a fierce contest. Valuable commodities in a reduced interchange era.

What I like is that we're putting together a really balanced multifaceted midfield. They're not all extractors, or receivers, or bulls, or gut-runners. It's the midfield as a unit, not any single midfielder that's the key.

Having said that, the one thing it probably does lack is speed, but it's possible to make up for that with quick ball movement. Which would also be a welcome change.

I would far prefer quick thinking and quick ball movement to a team of Bleases !!

Midfield groups that kick a large volume of goals are a key ingredient in any seriously competitive side.

Do you remember which quarter that goal was in? It was definitely the Geelong game right? I'm trying to find it on the replay to relive its awesomeness but can't seem to find it.

From memory it was the first - we were kicking to the right of screen.

Christian Petracca ......He's our Jake Stringer 2.0

That's funny you should say that. I was saying to a mate on Friday that several of the top draft picks were being compared to Jake Stringer when in fact I reckon Jake Stringer should be compared to the track ie Stringer is the trac mark 2.

I'm not sure he'll make the same impact as Hogan but there is a few similarities. One is that the Trac has sat out a season, another is that he now has an AFL ready body. Another is he has an X factor and also shares the Hogan swagger.  A gun.

I suspect he will play half forward and be a very hard match up given the best back will have to go to Jessie, a decent player will have to cover Gartlett and if fit Kent will pose some problems in terms of match ups.

Looking at photos the track is a beast, almost too big. Big in the legs he'll be hard to move off the ball in the way that Leigh Matthews was and he will be a real handful. I reckon 25 goals is a possibility. If he stays fit he is likely to play all games and is great vale for the Rising Star at $6.50

Thanks for the report, Roger.  I've commented on the numbers thing before.  Would be a nice touch if the Club would go to the effort of sticking numbers on the players' training shirts.  Can't be that hard, and would sure help our intrepid Demonland Reporters!

Barrie. A highly respected man like yourself should have a big influence and hat you say should be gospel at the club.......at least until there is another Premiership HFF anyway. :-).  Just tell them to do it!

Massive call but... I think petracca could have as big or an even bigger impact than Jesse Hogan did last year!

Fitness will be Petracca's issue. Hogan's a good endurance athlete, Tracc isn't and still isn't in full training.

He won't kick 40 goals either, but if he combines with Hogan, Garlett etc then suddenly having a potent forward line with multiple options might change the way we play and improve results.

Hogan and Garlett were a huge part of us going from 4 to 7 wins. Petracca could be worth another win or two which is heavy praise on a young kid in a team sport (and also an indictment on our forwards of previous years).

LOL.  The REAL Barrie Vagg might wield such influence!  Alas, I must confess to being a pathetic imposter!  Albeit, I was a big fan of the great man!

Here you go, first quarter it was, this is the actual goal. I've watched this game on replay many times! The ball starts about 30 out from our own goal, and goes coast to coast.

You can see ANB behind the wing as Lumumba takes off:

A forward line consisting of Hogan and Trac both crashing packs will have the opposition worried. Include leg speed of Kent, Garlett, JKH, ANB and Kennedy to get the loose ball - it's starting to look like a pretty potent line up!

Not so sure.  He has been working on his fitness almost non stop for many months now, even back when the rest were playing footy.   Could end up a surprise packet.

A surprise for me would be Petracca not being fit.

How wicked would it be to do that to them again next year!

If only i had time to watch that whole thing again!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
