Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nup.

The rules are complex and verging on comtradictory, but I believe in 2015 alone we've fulfilled our quota of using 2 x 1st round selections in a 4 year period, therefore we can trade our 2017 1st rounder in 2016.

I think.

Thats  correct..Its going to be interesting over time as the rolling caveat comes into play...i/e as the 4 year period rule slides over the oncoming seasons. Clubs will really need to keep wits about them lest they fly too close and come unstuck.   I can easily foresee a draft /trade period where a club(s) will be stymied from doing their preferred option simply because they would then run foul of these new regs. Interesting times ahead.

I think that many Demonlanders are unnecessarily negative about our trading of next year's first round pick. Hopefully it will be pick 11-13 in any event, mostly due to us picking up Oliver with pick 3 this year!

The article actually stated..."...Suns had almost accepted the fact O'Meara would be moving to Melbourne at the end of next season.....", not returning to.

Unfortunately it did not say to Melbourne .

I hope we are at the stage, where Prestia if we get him, is icing on the cake, rather than a main ingredient. That would probably enhance our chances of getting him anyway.

More importantly for me, Jesse, please sign a long extended contract with us.

This will be a massive lose for GC.

Will the AFL allow this to happen to their baby?

Your are surely not suggesting that the AFL would ever make up rules on the run to support some of their favored clubs, are you?

Not a body as deeply committed to integrity and transparency like the AFL?

Burn the heretic! :-)

'It was a pretty serious injury': Jaeger no certainty for round one

It seems that O'Meara won't be playing round - still recovering from knee injuries.

They seem optimistic Prestia will play round 1.

TBH, I think I prefer our own home-grown talent than chase that from other clubs.  Setting aside injuries and their trade value, I'm not sure how we would fit them into the salary cap and still keep our gung-ho, young talent who will not be cheap to keep.

So you think Brayshaw, Hogan, Petracca, Viney, Salem etc etc are going to turn out like those guys?  I don't think so.  The guys you mention couldn't even get regular games let alone command a high salary.

As I said, I prefer to look after our own home grown talent than chase that from other clubs.  Just my preference.

I prefer the club to build the best list possible.

Burgoyne, Lake, Gunston, Frawley.  Just build a better list.

If Prestia is coming to us it will be because he sees us as a genuine finals threat.

In that case he'll take salary commiserate with his position on the list. Top 10 player, somewhere in the top group of mids including Jones, Vince, Viney and in the future Brayshaw.

They know they can't demand massive salaries at clubs that are going somewhere, and given his melbourne connection I'm confident we'll get him unless GCS through mega bucks at him.

That s absolute crazy talk. There is not one player in the league that will come to us for LESS than they could be getting elsewhere - to the contrary, whoever comes to us needs to be getting a bit over their market value to compensate for the various disadvantages that come with playing for us. That's why Dawes, Lumumba and now even Melksham are making out like bandits. In general I still think the average joe is massively deluded in the role that on-field success has in these player movements. Along with 'family reasons' it is generally a smokescreen for the real reason which is coin.

He'd be our best midfielder straight away, by quite a margin. Only Hogan would be ahead of him in terms of Top 10 players.

I'm not sure I agree re player movements.  Did Frawley go to Hawthorn for more money? I really believe a lot of players move for success.

We'd offer Prestia more than Hawthorn or Geelong could afford. And given Collingwoo/Treloar this year I expect them too.

Of the other vic clubs, I think he would command a pretty similar salary anywhere.  If someone offers him crazy money well yeah,  take it,  but if we are in the ball park, we won't pay overs at the expense of our current list. I.e. double his true last value. And i don't think he's expect it.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
