Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Going by Jeff's comments on the MFC website he is really enjoying himself at his new club. We all know that he had a personal off the field incident whilst at Carlton but that is all behind him now. I do not know him personally but he appears to be a really pleasant person on and off the field. He is a good sport, is not dirty and is quick to acknowledge good play by his teammates. He wants to kick 50 goals next season and reckons it is possible. He also showed a good sense of humour when he said that he hates crumbing alongside Jess Hogan. Why? "Because he always marks the ball!" Let's hope he can realise his 50 goal ambition.

I was shocked Richmond didn't go for Garlett.. One thing they were lacking was a good crumbing forward player.

Good point...this year they learnt from their mistake and went after Yarran. The difference:

Garlett - pick # - who knows...

Yarran - pick # 19

It will never cease to amaze me the bargain Garlett was for us.

His comments echo the good vibe coming from our young brigade.

I know 'words are cheap' etc but good attitudes are infectious and I have a sense this team will work for each other on and off the field.

A long, long time since players worked for each other.

Can't wait to see Jeff kick 50 and watch our team develop!

The ball is their court...they are the only ones that can make their premiership dream come true!!

One of the best trades I can remember. His back-to-back goals against Collingwood (both set up by Brayshaw) demonstrates how he's able to take over a game and make it his. His 4 or 5 goals and forward pressure against Geelong were also stellar and was a real contributing factor towards our victory

Was absolutely stoked when we got him from Carlton. Always liked him as a player and if I recall correctly he has a rough childhood, may have even been living out of a car for a while if I recall correctly. Even at Carlton I wanted to see him have a successful career and was a little dissapointed when he went off the rails for a bit there. It has worked out really well for us though. In the space of just 12 months we went from having no threatening forwards to having 2. Just need to add another 1 (Petracce/Kent?) and we may just have a dangerous forward setup.

I imagine not even the Melbourne hierarchy could have hoped for a better result. As others have said before (Ron Burgundy) it was more of a solid gold gift from Carlton than a trade.

Love it when the footy is in Garletts area, interesting and fun things happen.

It would not be difficult to picture him in the forward line of a premiership side. He is an integral part of our next finals side.

Where are the fools who did not want him?, no dheads they said

I guess a lot of them were used to the old way things were done.

If the old party boy leaders were still at the club, things might have turned out differently.

I think the culture Jeffy has walked in to has helped a lot. Not that it's perfect but it's a mile better than the one that preceded it.

I just had a read of the thread at the time - very few were critical of the trade. Most saw it for how it was: a talented player who had lost his way, that filled a need in the side and came very cheaply.

I think there's always a chance he'll lose his way again, but hopefully we've got the right leadership at the club to keep him on track. He was awesome this year, I had always thought of him as a bit of a downhill skiier, but his pressure inside 50 was a feature in conjunction with his class use of the ball. Definitely one of the biggest trade bargains I've seen in my lifetime so far.

I thought they did but Garlett selected us after, amongst other things, having a chat with Davey?

Somewhat ironic, then again possibly not, given Davey's time with the Tiges

He's so fast he stole Usain Bolts'girl and had her back in bed before the lights went on.

He's that quick.

Saw Jeffy up close at Ballarat last year when we played the Dogs NAB Cup game. His skills really are sublime.

When he dropped to the ground , trapping ball and allowing his defender to over run him was just football beauty to enjoy

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
