We really are a negative lot. That logo is modern yet recognises our tradition. It's bold. This rebrand day is all we have been banging on about here for years, a presence in the city! We are out there getting noticed in our town. My social media blew up this morning from non dees getting coffee on the way to work. Lose the negativity and embrace it fools

I like the simplicity of the logo. It's the sort of thing that you could give to a tourist that won't make them look like a tool.

The campaign to release the rebranding is also good, because we're letting people hear about it from different places. It's more organic and gets people talking about what's happening, rather than just telling it at them by putting up a press release and a staged photoshoot on the website plus 30 seconds on the 6pm news.

And Daisy ......... she is absolute gold for this club.

More than just the logo itself, the launch of it gets space in the mainstream media. In the MFC's previous incarnation, this would have barely rated a mention. To me the launch shows we are back - well and truly - on the AFL media's radar. For me that is a refreshing change and can't be a bad thing.

You're not Caroline Wilson are you? If so, thanks for reasonably positive write-up in The Age today.

And if you're not, I sincerely apologise for suggesting it.

Like Daisies top. Will be interesting to see if that is a womens top of an option for the blokes to.

Exactly.

I normally hate football merchandise but I was given one of blue the New Era hats with the MFC monogram in red and I wear it all the time.

The [censored] are you on about? The response has been far more positive than negative.

Talking about merchandise, I was called by the club yesterday to thank me for responding to an online survey (which I don't remember doing). Apparently I asked that the club broaden the range from a free scarf with membership to other items such as caps, ties and socks. All I got from the call was that the club is thinking about it. But I re-emphasised that I'd like socks because my football scarf draw is overflowing and my sock draw isn't.

I wish they would get some of the 39Thirty hats in, I can't stand the flat brim and high top of the 59Fifty's

I like that it focuses on word "Melbourne" rather than the demon, as this is one of the critical branding advantages we have over other Melbourne based clubs who's name (original location) has been diminished in favour of their mascot i.e. Doggies, Kangaroos, Bombers, etc...

When I first read the title of this thread I though maybe Grand New Flag or the Riddler had taken over marketing at the MFC! (Did we actually work out who the Riddler was?)

We're mimicking the Brookyn Nets in how we have created this logo. Very minimalist.
This is much easier to put on a hoodie, cap or t-shirt. It is a little bit of a shock to the system when one considers how busy it's predecessor was.
I'm not overly sorry to see the old logo go as there were so many bad memories associated with it.

Always happens. One or two negative comments. Suddenly EVERYONE is deemed to be negative.

This is not a good sign LDC!

it is...or should be the strength of our brand. Melbourne. Only we can leverage it in this manner.

Lets own Melbourne.

Pretty sure its design is by Dave Larkins better known as lead singer of Dallas Crane, who also works for the Dees.

He showed me this design 6 months ago and it looked fabulous then, but it was late.... He has been working behind the scenes for a while now designing and re-branding.

Can play too.

Well done Larko!

It is the aging process Dr.

I'm only 33! But I do find myself scowling and shaking my fist at the young hoodlums with their ridiculous outfits and poor taste in music.

I too dislike those caps I put it down to fashion and the fact I would look ridiculous in one.

In my view they are aimed at 18 - 22 years olds which is sadly a long way from my age.

So you see you are a decade out of it Dr.

Havent seen spruiking like this since Neale Daniher transformed from a relatively quiet laid back coach to the man we now know as 'The Reverend'

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
