Titus O'Reily on Podcast

Titus is a master, his twitter commentary during games is on point. Could only be a Melbourne supporter!

Love that avatar - great work.

Christ! And you think Leaping Larry isn't?!

Wonders never cease...

Not in the slightest about Leaping Larry, no. With Titus it's just predictable joke after predictable joke.

Some of his most recent work;

"This shooting at the home of the Racing Victoria chief steward makes me wonder if racing isn't as squeaky clean as I'd always believed"

and

"I bet Jake Carlisle rues the day Josh Bootsma invented snapchat"

and

"Jake Melksham now officially a Demon. Breaks the 2016 premiership race wide open".

Just find his schtick obvious and unimaginative. But it would be a boring world if everyone had the same sense of humour so each to their own!

I thought his quote during trade week of "GW$ just dropping off some rubbish at Carlton" with a picture inside a waste disposal factory was absolutely hilarious....! :)

I heard that too, that's why this was so interesting to hear. The two hosts are comedians and joke all the way through, but there's clear gags made, it's not satire like Titus' writings. They were asking his perspective as a Dees supporter and they got talking about 'the past'.

I'm a regular listener of Junktime it'd easily the best AFL podcast going round and is probably the best football show period. The two hosts used to write for Before The Game if I'm not mistaken and do well without a network censoring them.

The podcast with Titus was great, he completely encapsulated for other listeners what it has been like being a Melbourne supporter for the last decade. Nothing new for those of us who have lived through it (and I couldn't believe he got some dates wrong like the 186 game being in 2009 and the draft years though I guess that shows not all supporters are as maniacal as those of us here) but still a shock to hear it anf hear the reactions of those who haven't been in the bunker with us. The Carlton supporter said he was interested as a supporter of a club about to go through the same horror...

As much as people loathed Neeld as a coach, he did recognized those player traits when he took over. He can be blamed for a lot of things but he can't be accused for continuing that culture. He tried to change it and change it quick by moving on Maloney, Morton and co. You can imagine the bitching and sniping that would have gone on during his time. Would have been a horrible place to be in.

You could go further than that and add that Neeld was buried as a coach because he recognised the lack of fitness and the poor culture and tried to change it. The effect was that he was a lame duck from the very beginning.

I love Titus O'Reily, but he is much better in print than on radio and I found that difficult to listen to simply because he got a lot of facts wrong.

Felt a bit the same. He also went overboard in how bad things are now. The "not trying" thing is outdated, and we did finish 13th. You can't still be deplorable and have five teams finish below you.

But he conveyed the misery of being a Demons supporter pretty much spot on and it didn't alter my opinion of him. He's a top shelf football satirist with an extremely sharp mind.

I know Leapster-and I agree with you.

But he has his moments of genuine humour.

The scripted stuff is dull.

I know Leapster ... I known Titus .. I wish we were all so well connected.

You need to drink at the wrong bars to attain such lofty status.

Junktime is exceptional satire for those of us who are more football nerds than football meatheads, and view the self-important seriousness of footy culture with a bit of humor in need of some mockery to lighten things up a bit. They're the Chasers of footy podcasts. But they need to actually blend a bit more football information with the comedy, that's kind of why i prefer superfooty podcast for the sheer amount of topics they go through and Huddo is a likeable professional. Still a bit of humour mixed in but they're a bit sooky and arrogant (news limited influence) so it also has its faults.

Every once in a while Titus O'Reily delivers something brilliant, which is a welcome relief from the drudgery of AFL media in general.

Mostly he just drops in a steady flow of routine humour on the basis of a 'lovingly jaded' attitude. Which is also actually kind of refreshing given the AFL media mainstream.

Important thing to understand is that his main space is twitter, so his job isn't to make you rofl or even lol, just add a little smirk as you flick through all the other dross.

He's only asking for half a second, don't expect too much back!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
