As I heard yesterday, Bird had approx 6 straight games where he was in the best for swans reserves at the end of the season, when the Swans suffered midfield injuries, yet he still couldn't get back into the side during finals.

Apparently something has happened where the leadership group at Sydney has blackballed Bird, demanded he not be selected, and he will not be returning to the swans regardless of what he wants.

I'd offer a 3rd round pick. Bird can play, and always looked well conditioned. At the very least he is a professional, could be a good replacement for Cross.

I don't rate him. Looked out of place in Swans midfield as a weak link in their depth. That unfortunately probably puts him thereabouts with Meilksham, Bugg & Kennedy. No thanks. Slow, not great skills and can make bad decisions. Used to be very reliable but seems to have lost pace and dropped behind a string of younger midfielders at Swans.
