Are we fully committed to using pick 25 (vs. pick 29) for Melksham? According to this morning's paper, it still adopts the wording of 'a second round pick' suggesting that we can utilise 29 and retain 25. Also, I cannot see why we cannot use 50 to get Bugg and either utilise 25 in the draft, use it on another player such as Plowman or Tomlinson (both of whom seem to be up for grabs), or leveraging/packaging it up to gain another first round pick!

Paperwork has been lodged CBD, pick 25 is Essendons

What ever happened to the idea of Zac Jones coming home to join his Bro at the Demons - Thought it was a monty?

He signed a new swans contract a few months ago

Signed a new contract a few months back. Even so, I haven't seen too much of him that's impressed me since he debuted.

One to revisit in a few years in my opinion.

Chasing and catching: not necessarily the same thing.

Though in any case, I thought that the priority was mids, mids and more mids, it was the press who ramped up the "a mate for Hogan" idea.

No, it came from us.

It must be addressed either from within or bringing someone in.

are you telling me you thought Howe had a good year?

did you happen to catch any of the games?

I don't think he had a good year C&B, but he is not as bad as some are making out in this thread.

Are you watching the baseball playoffs? What team does Aish play for?

Coincidentally I just attended Cubs Mets G1 @ Citifield the other night lol

But no, I'm referring to our pitching skills @ MFC.. Late mail that were talking with him Now-ish in a last minute steal attempt. Can't see us pulling it but who knows

You've been Nudged..!

Don't shoot the messenger champ - not one of mine! I don't post anything I hear first hand anymore remember, fear of angry Mob syndrome etc.. Mate text me this saying he heard this in Melb and that were pitching to his Mgmt I assumed it was out there already!

Clearly not - But we are Brisbane's preferred option apparently.

Fingers crossed we pull off a miracle with Aish.. All depends on the pitching skills from here!

...that would be a nice comeuppence to the pies for the 'sting' they pulled off on Howe!

Howe/Pies seem to have hatched their plan some time ago but 'forgot' to tell MFC!

Aish would be a good get! And Brisbane could do with an extra early 1st rnd pick for their Academy players then swap other picks...beats pies 2016 2nd pick ie somewhere around 30-35...

What a delight it would be if we swooped and pinched Aish out from under their noses!!

Go MFC

I read that today but thought it was a typo and they meant Nth Melbourne?

Well unless that's what he read but he did heard not read and I'm assuming it's been reported elsewhere also then! Mahoney is a sound bloke to head such a coup - never mind that!

Been away so haven't read the thread fully but did I read Emma Quayle somewhere say that had we not chosen Toumpas we would have chosen Bne Kennedy?? Surely that can't be right.

Where are the posters that swore black and blue it was a choice between Toumpas and Wines? What is the real story here?

I went to the start of the thread and read the first dozen pages or so. Never a mention of Kennedy, doesn't mean the club weren't interested I suppose. Still, seems a bit odd. Edited by Ethan Tremblay

With Mahoney in charge there is not chance.

That is way harsh. Considering Howe had already sorted a deal with Buckley weeks (months) ago. When that happens you have to salvage the best you can

Roos should give Buckley a broken nose on 360 next year for pulling that sh!t. Howe was not an FA...

Emma Quayle's twitter made mention of the first point. Terry Wallace (?) said yesterday that virtually every list manager would have picked Toumpas ahead of Wines, even Port Adelaide.

Others (Damian Barrett ?) said the same thing - that Toumpas was tipped to go at 2 or 3. Mention on MFC website that we were looking at Ben Kennedy around the time of the draft.

I know it was Nudge, but I wouldn't be interested in Aish either. His contested ability doesn't fit the 'new' MFC mould anyway, so doubt this is on at all.

Further to this, his manager, Liam Pickering stated a few days ago Aish only wants to go to Collingwood or he'll stay at Brisbane. This was after he rejected a big offer from North. I'm sure us North Melbourne have been confused.

Not interested in an entitled little twit.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
