'Climate change' in the AFL is sucking all life out of the pond. The big fish are gone, and only minnows remain. It's the way of professional sport!

I fully believe Prestia was/is the Big Fish.

Cant see us landing him this year now.

Those previously smiling at Melb are probably somewhat glum now :(

Looks like we are gonna end up with seafood extender

We were always going to end up with the crab stick or raw prawn

Who was it those weeks ago that said Roos was walking around with a smile on his face? And was it a literal or figurative smile? And has anything changed? Is it a literal or figurative scowl now?

He isn't the biggest of fish, but I'd like is to have targeted Carlisle in order to free up tommy Mac.

Being able to play forward in the nick Riewoldt manner, leading up to the wings would have been fantastic, and dropping back if our defence was struggling.

Either way let's hope we have a huge 2016 and become a real destination club next year!

It's funny everyone asking who's the big fish, i will tell you the truth about the big fish, most clubs best players don't leave very often, so most players that leave are not that wanted.

I'm actually inclined to agree dmma. There are certainly no guarantees. I still remember Templeton coming to us and not being able to kick over a jam tin.

Time will tell, but I suspect there may well be a few big name busts from this trade period as well. And, for the first time in a while, I'm more excited by some of the lesser lights and their potential development I.e. (Stretch, Neal- Bullen, Oscar McDonald, introduction of Max King). It's easier being patient as well when the kids are starting to show something.

Maybe just the odd Mullet.

Maybe just the odd Mullet.

I'd settle for a European Carp (Zac Dawson) Biffen at this point.

I can't believe this thread still has oxygen considering the big fish thing was started by none other than the purple warrior...

Soooo having said that..... Is this Prestia pulling in a big one on a Gold Coast beach???

With Prestia's manager intimating that Dion may return to Victoria at the end of the 2016 and with the Pies and the Cats already(well likely in the pies case) without first round picks for next year it narrows down the competition a little for us. Unless something eventuates this year I think we'll be keeping our powder dry by not trading any future picks so we can offer two first round picks (2016 & 2017).

They will lobby the AFL to let them lobby 2 future years draft picks the following year or some [censored]. These teams will put themselves in massive draft debt to move up the ladder, this will result in their future picks being worth Jack [censored] also

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
