One of my top favourite shows is Open Mike. I love the open and honest discussions that Mike does with all his guest, but tonight would probably have to be one episode I am really looking forward too.

We have never heard Stevens side of the story until tonight.

Looking forward to it!

Who cares about Stevens story? An affair that happened a generation ago should be none of our business imo

Stevens has turned down countless interview requests over the years, he's chosen to do this one, maybe he wants to get his side out? You wouldn't begrudge the bloke that would you? His choice.

A randy, opportunistic footballer takes advantage of an available woman who happens to be a team mate's wife. It's probably happened before. It might happen again. Wrong choice but what would we know? It's not our business and frankly, I couldn't give a rat's hat.

Agree and disagree Dazzle. Some of his interviews are top notch, others are sensationalist.

Tonight, it'll be all about Wayne Carey and wayward Kelly, or whatever her name is.

Mike will kick off with, "We'll talk about your outstanding career shortly (as in the last 3 minutes of the show), but for now.....

Stevens had a pretty impressive career as captain and was a gun, but most of tonights show will be the sordid [censored] and the rest will be glossed over.

I've seen the ads now and it looks like a payout fest on Carey (and who wouldn't given the opportunity) rather than a look at Steven's contribution to football - Carry on.

Glenn Archer summed it all up. Next year will be the 20 year reunion. U will have Stevens on one side, Carey on the other & awkward uncomfortable people in the middle of the room.

Substitute 'randy coach' for randy footballer and yes, it has happened before.

Carey knows how to land on his feet, gotta give him that much.

If he forgave the wife, he should have forgiven Carey.

She is as much to blame as he is.

Entirely possible that he may not have forgiven her if kids weren't involved.

Will be interesting to see if Norf drafts them under the Fathers/son rule.

Says a lot about our country and society, I'm afraid. He's scum and should be treated as such.

Who cares. An interview not needed..

So don't watch. It was his choice to go on.

Posters have expressed their view that the matter is a non event and not worth the oxygen it's getting. Fairly reasonable, it must be said. "So don't watch" is a cop out reply. What are you going to do if they watch? Hold your breath?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
