Nathan Freeman

Norm Smith's Curse

He's Collingwood's Lucas Cook. No.

You might be right.

But i often think of you as Latvia's Malcolm Douglas.

So my opinion is hardly relevant.

As opposed to being a bit soft and loving the hard stuff?

the difference between the two imo would be

soft and hating hard stuff = cale Morton

soft and loving hard stuff = jack rewoldt, can win contested ball, still a sook.

Highly rated draftee that has been cruelled by injury. Yet to resign with the pies. Any love?

I think the mere suggestion that a player like Freeman is a topic for discussion on a trade board is indicative of how impatient we are as a group of supporters with the development of young talent. Seriously this guy has had injuries and is being made to earn his spot, it's a simple as that. We have to get over the idea that just because a high draft pick isn't being played doesn't mean he's ripe to be moved on.

Think: Toumpas, Hunt, etc.

Yeah, a lot of love here. I liked Salem ahead of him in the draft. But I'd offer Collingwood our second rounder pick for Freeman.

He does have weaknesses, but so did Viney at this time last year. If we can fix VIney up - which we have - then I'd like to see what we could do with Freeman.

Viney fixed himself. It comes back to that 'competitiveness' thing - the willingness to improve yourself as a footballer - which keeps getting talked about among the younger players at the club. It'll become, hopefully, the nexus between these players in a successful Melbourne team for the years ahead.

If Freeman ain't got it, he ain't got it. We can try but he's gotta help himself first.

As for an offer, well, he's gotta nominate us first, otherwise I reckon our first-round pick will get involved in a complex deal, and I don't want that.

Hunt is a bit different to Toumpas being younger and not as physically developed.

Hopefully Toumpas has a breakout year in 2016 and we keep Hunt for at least another year, to give him the chance to develop.

Completely agree. Daniel Cross modelled this brilliantly for our younger players.

I see it this way...and i liked Freeman for the draft.

If hes in reasonable knick and medically all clear....id expect the Pies would be wanting to keep him. If he isnt and yhey don't. ...why would we ?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
