Nathan Jones - 200 games

Well done a very good player who has played some of the most consistent footy in the game.

His patience has been tested over the years and I commend him for sticking to his task.

Hopefully, we can get him help in that midfield and he can get back to his best form in 2016 if not in the last 2 rounds...

Club captain, 3 time best and fairest winner playing his 200th this weekend. Has been a heart and soul leader over the past few years, often surrounded by kids, delisted rejects from other clubs or players ready to check out for another club.

Obviously hasn't had his best few games for the club, but he has played 199 out of a possible 204 in that time which shows just how much representing this club means to him. Really hope that the players can put in a big effort for him this weekend and cause a major boilover.

Cheers Jonesy and all the best to your next 200 (hopefully).

Absolutely sh it house that i had to scroll down the bottom of the forum list to find a thread about this man.
Above it were all the threads about trading, the state of our club, player worth, if Roosy is a good coach or not, blah blah [censored] blah.
Push those aside for a second and let's focus on this bloke, a man who (like Flower) has been a shining light amongst the darkness of the past 7 years.

Has been an absolute pleasure watching this (still) playing LEGEND of the MFC give his all for us week after week. Idiots may query his captain capabilities, but no-one can query his heart, and the blood he sheds weak after week which is nothing but red and blue.

I for one stand up and applaud you. You can truly call yourself an actual Melbourne DEMON, one who will be remembered for everything that is right about this club. Congratulations on 200 games!

Congrats to Jonesy, he's given a lot to the club and he's a true club man. If ever the boys are going to lift it should be this week for this man.

A true club legend. Probably will make the 300 which will be a great effort.

Love his commitment, durability and consistency.

His performances have been under rated because he has had to do it alone. There has been no one else in the midfield to support him and he takes the hardest tag each week. Hopefully the improvement in Tyson, Vanders, Brayshaw, ANB, Petracca, Viney and the reappearance of Trenners will free him up to play with the flair that he is capable of.

Congratulations Chunk you are a star.

Congrats Jonsey! Has shown amazing loyality and terrific mental strength over the past 8 years

Sets a great example for the young guys. Still underrated by supporters and outside the club.

Congratulations Jonesy on the milestone. If your teammates showed half as much guts and determination as you do, the club would have won far more games than it has over your career. I have loved watching you develop as a player and a leader over the past ten years, and hope that you fnally get some reward for all your hard work over the remainder of your career.

Incidentally, Jones has only missed five games since his debut, and just one in the past six years. That is exceptional durability for a player that plays the way he does.

Amazing that he played two finals in his first eight games, and none since. Hopefully he adds to that tally before his time is up.

It is nice and people mightn't like me saying this but I wish Garland could take it upon himself to perhaps realise that he is someone who could have done the same thing?

Why is it that he has admired from a far?

I mean, it sounds as if it's a non-footballing person writing about a player. Not a player writing about his team-mate.

Garland strikes me as somebody who has much more interest in 'knowing' about football and the history of it rather than 'playing' it.

It's actually quite bizarre to read.

But to Jonesy:

You typify what it means to have a 'back-bone' in the way that you play the game.

You're willingness to never-say-die from the moment you step on the field is something that brings me to games.

You're unrelenting desire to improve all of the areas of your game and to become the best player you can be is something that too many turn a blind eye to.

Born from this desire and willingness to succeed, you've become a champion of our club.

You're the shining light that we've followed through this veil of darkness.

Happy 200th Nathan,

I love you.

I enjoyed that article from Colin Garland. I respect Nathan enormously and feel that we are so fortunate to have him at our club.

I am just sorry that he will not reach the milestone here in Melbourne. As much as I dislike late Sunday afternoon games, I would have made an exception if we were playing in Melbourne this week.

Well done Nathan Jones.

The players around him on Sunday should dig deeper than they ever have to ensure after the game the can look their skipper in the eye and say "I gave everything I could for you today"

Wether that's in victory or defeat, he has earnt that effort from his players.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
