Ramifications of a loss this weekend

True Heart

Recommended Posts

Don't want to sound negative BUT I think a loss this weekend against Carlton would be the breaking point for some, players and fans included.

This is a must win game for our direction as a club. We rarely perform against clubs we are expected to win.

A loss this weekend would be the biggest loss in our history.

Lets hope we win!

Oops I forgot that the earth is flat, just ask the AFL.

Now you're suggesting it isn't flat too!

Who are you to challenge my world? Why would the AFL not tell the truth?

You Sir are challenging my beliefs, next you will be saying we can't win the flag this year. Humbug!

It would make us 6 & 14 that's what would happen in pure cold hard one game at a time footy....

It's another game, they're all good to win and they're all bad to lose.

I would have thought the '58 GF was probably the greatest loss in our history and personally I wasn't too thrilled with the '87 prelim and the '88 GF.

rjay, I ridicule people born in 1958.

2000 was bad too.

It would raise legitimate question of if we truly have improved from last year.

A massive loss to the Dogs followed by a loss to the wooden spooners would rightly put the spotlight on both the playing group and the delusional coaches from thinking we are more advanced than where we were at the start of the year.

I dunno why everyone thinks we'll smash them. I wouldn't say we're a 10 goal better side than Carlton (we'll need to find 10 goals in the first place). I'll be disappointed but I'll be surprised if we're on top of our game, it'll probably be similar to the Essendon game (except hopefully we'll win by a few goals due to better accuracy)

There is no such thing, especially for a struggling club trying to build a winning culture.

Exactly

Remember everyone saying the game at the G' vs GWS at the end of last season was meaningless.. yeah right, we got flogged and it set us back 12 months

Must win this SUnday

"We'll all be rooned!"

A win is better than a loss but losing to Carlton would be embarrassing.

But embarrassment is an unfortunate expectation around this club so it won't hurt too much. Such embarrassment will hurt more when we have built up some consistent pride in our performance that we can subsequently lose.

And the fans that you are worried about not signing up next year? Yeah, they are not watching anymore. The painted on fans like us are the only ones still with their eyes on the footy.

You say that like it is a fact. How did that loss set us back that much?

I'm impressed by your ability to quantify things. It wasn't good, it was a setback - but 12 months?

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
