Derwayne: "You'd think if the Bombers lose to Melbourne next week, there may be some questions asked..."

Matthew Lloyd on 3AW just then: "On paper, next week we have a very winnable game."

Smash these [censored], Dees!

This is the kind of disrespectful stuff I can't stand.

What they mean by 'on paper' is that the paper says the opponent is 'Melbourne'.

In reality, on paper our side is better than theirs.

We have a lot of work to do to get the respect of the AFL public back. Winning this weekend is a non-negotiable start. Beating Brisbane the week after would help.

must have been confusing himself by reading a 'script" Thats the paper EFC deals in no ??

All those papers were conveniently "lost".

I'd have been a lot more confident of a good showing next weekend, if we hadn't played in Darwin this week.

Backing up the next week is always bloody hard. The AFL continues to perplex with scheduling us for the Darwin game a week after the bye???

Maybe it's a good thing, as excuses aside, we will truly see who wants to be an MFC player this coming game.

Someone needs to tell that [censored] Lloyd that his joke of a club have beaten us just once since 2010 and we have been horrid in that time, yet we still own them.

Their only win over us was in 2013 when they were juiced up with god knows what substances.

Christ I hope we annihilate them on Saturday,

Yep, hopefully someone at the club has the sense to be recording a lot of these delusional Bomber apologist comments. Think it's about time this club stood up and made a point.

....but that would mean consecutive wins...what is that??

I just expect arrogance or stupidity to flow from Dwayne's mouth everytime he opens it. The man is an imbecile.

They are on their knees and we need to follows the Saints' example. 10 goals minimum.

I'll be ecstatic to pinch just ONE win over the next two weeks. Hopefully this isn't asking too much of our mob.

Lions in front at quarter time.

Good on us for trying to be different and NOT trying to cause an upset this weekend.

We're usually predictably predictable at sucking in those weird rounds full of upsets.

At least we pinched the win against Geelong.

Wow what the hell happened in the Bombers/Saints game? I don't know whether to be concerned or glad that we're playing the bombers next week.

Coming off Darwin, plus they'll be out to prove a point. We'd better be ready to play.

Firstly, they only have 5 wins.

Secondly, they literally have no injuries. This is as good as their list gets right now.

Thirdly, they still rely on their older players and premiership players (Riewoldt, Montagna, Dempster, Ray, Schneider, Gilbert).

Fourthly, they've beaten Essendon (awful, and bottom 6), us (bottom 6), Gold Coast (bottom 6), Brisbane (bottom 6) and the Dogs. Funnily enough, we've also beaten the Dogs and GC, haven't had the chance to beat Brisbane or Essendon yet, and we've beaten Geelong (in Geelong) and Richmond as well.

Overall, I'd rather be us than St Kilda.

They were having a winge the other week that they couldnt bring a player in because he was on the rookie list and they had no injuries.

Rookie rules need to change. Their poor rookie wasnt allowed to play becuase of the stupid rules, and they need to be looked at.

I couldnt [censored] believe it.

Freo doubled their own score in the last qtr to beat Lions by 6 goals.

Freo have a tough game vs Hawks next week

Hawks played fri night in perfect conditions while Freo had a tough, energy sapping, wet slog today.

So Hawks have 2 days extra recovery.

Then Freo have to fly to Tassie.

Don't like their chances of beating the Hawks next week!

If Freo lose it will bring them back to the field (top 4 speaking) a little.

Jobe Watson only 9 possessions in his milestone game. After his cryptic comments earlier last week, I wonder if he is making a statement of sorts? Edited by america de cali

As the matches wear on you'd be forgiven for thinking their players have stopped caring altogether. Only Heppell put up a yelp.

Or he is playing injured. Either way he seems to have lost a yard or two of pace and he seems totally out of the game mentally.

We can smash these guys next week.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
