Good team, looks balanced. Surprised Fitzy comes out considering Garland is gone, but we can get away with two KPD on Roo and Bruce.

Hopefully Michie or Riley starts as sub. Get some responsibility on the younger guys' shoulders and see how hungry they are to make an impression.

Didn't expect the Stretch/Fitz swap, but otherwise as expected after seeing the extended bench.

Best of luck to ANB on debut. Hopefully Stretch can step up too - very, very inexperienced looking side this.

Likely that Stretch will be the sub and share that duty on the pine with ANB which means the two mates from Glenelg will share the pine and not be on the ground at the same time together.

I'm worried about the Dunn on Bruce matchup.

I'd hate for the game to be decided purely on Bruce kicking 6+ because we've got nobody to play on him.

Dunn should be playing on the oppo's 3rd or 4th fwd not No 1 or 2.

This is where the loss of Frawley will occasionally rear its head (although still rather Brayshaw than Frawley)

He is very versatile, being so tall and quick. Yes he is no champion but he can still improve. He can play ruck, forward or back and can snag a goal. If played forward, he is actually not an easy match up for opposing teams.

We have several others who will go before him.

Small backline has me concerned. I had Fitzy coming out until the Garlo injury. Have a feeling we're going to be a bit more attack focused this week and concentrate on trying to get our run and spread happening for once. Probably cos we're not at the G and we won't know which side is the members side boundary...

What is the possible scope or timeline for O-Mac's improvement? I'm not doubting his ability in any way or writing him off, just wondering how the club is expecting him to develop. ie. seniors next year and whether or not he could potentially be as good as his brother as well?

It'll be exciting when O-Mac and T-Mac are lining up for us!

We will certainly need fitzy next week against the Blitz show at Geelong, lucky Stanley is out, hopefully Mitch not back.

I like the team this week but it is also very young and inexperienced. Brayshaw, Stretch, Toumpas, ANB, Michie all very young in their careers.

Agreed. I think long term Frost can be the second tall, but obviously with him out we're stretching things a bit down there.

I can already see McDonald being BOG blanketing Riewoldt but Bruce kicking a bag, Beau Wilkes style.

Depending on form, I wouldn't be surprised if the club played him in a couple games towards the end of the season so he can have a taste of the pace of AFL. If Garland were to leave at years end (hopefully not), O-Mac could be a possible replacement.

But I love the idea of having a pair of brothers playing for the MFC again!

Dunn would be fine on Bruce. Held a monster to 3 goals, 1 goal a quarter, last week after he got off to a flyer in the first. Apart from the one off ugly kick in, Dunn was in our top 5 and easily the best of our defenders against the Pies. Possibly not at his best form from last year but still solid. Cross was also great down back playing the loose man/pushing up into the mid.

Yes I agree HL. Among other factors, pretty obvious we need a stellar game from T-Mac on the Roo If we are to get over the line
