mnm is fond of Wattsy.

Kreuzer has been lackluster thru injuries, but is a big man with excellent hands & is now entering his prime @ 25... Jamar is getting on, & will be finished by end of 2016.

we need some big cats who can take a grab up front & with Casboult doing things in the air at the blues & the fact they need changes there, maybe just maybe, the time is right for the Kreuz' to make a change.

I would entertain either Kreuz or Hendo in a trade for Watts, & maybe some rounding out the change someway.

If we could get Yarran, I think that could be 'alright' as well; as I see him as coach-able, for a man like Roosy.

Jack has been better this year, not great today but his work rate has improved.

There is quite a few people I'd trade Watts for after an insipid effort like today...

Kreuzer is not one of them.

Malthouse won't be at Carlton in 2016, unless they are absolutely, completely, comprehensively, ridiculously mad. A new coach would be likewise unless they got Watts for pick 65.

Deeluded, hey mate, this post and the op of the 'footy prohecies' thread suggests you are on a weekend-long bender. Hope it is fun!!!

Watts is no superstar, but I would not be dealing him for the sake of dealing him. Kruez is broken, and may never reach his potential. We need to keep looking out for savvy additions and building through the draft.

Jack Watts development has been a slow process, but I see progress this year. He is looking a capable player.
I would not trade Jack Watts for anything less than a first round pick. Even then, it would want to be a top 10 pick.

Watts will come good, he was a promising junior - and was ALWAYS going to take time.

Toumpas on the other hand, I'd trade for a pie and coke, he was never an exceptional junior - and has ALWAYS lacked the tools to succeed at this level.

He has a habit of dropping the easy marks. He can't be that mentally weak surely. Hopefully it's a technique problem.

Hahahahahhahahahahhahha.

yes but how far will his efforts go here in rednblue? will a change do his game good. It often does wake some up.

If we could get a decent swap, I myself would go for it.

We need to build effort & physical effort into our culture. having players who will not go when they're the ones closest, does not help reshape our clubs weakness. I don't think its a case of that he cannot, I think now its a case of; "He will not"

I would rather work with someone who at least will throw a punch, than someone who will not. at least one is willing to get physical. thats a start you an work with to reshape the aggression.

The things he does well, he does really well, but he just provides too many meek efforts and today is not the first time he has dropped marks like that.

Posted this after last weeks loss and I still feel exactly the same for those who missed it:

Here's who I would be looking to turn over at seasons end

Watts (trade) must have some currency lets just cash in these chips already
Garland (free agent) let him go, take whatever pick we get for him, he's too inconsistent
Cross (retire) old man time catches up with everyone eventually
Grimes (trade) try to find a vandenBerg type with better skills and a stronger body with the low pick we'll get for him
Howe (trade) if he can attract a late first rounder like was rumoured last offseason that would have to be a win for us
McKenzie (delist)
Gawn (delist)
Toumpas (trade) steak knives in a trade with Adelaide or Port for someone decent
Bail (delist)
Trengove (retire) don't think he'll make it back unfortunately

I'll admit Garland was better today, but I still think he'll leave and I won't be all that sad to see him go.

talent doesn't leave. Kreuzer hasn't done his knee again, its a foot stress fracture I believe. the bloke has size & can mark, has good hands & a footy brain.

he just needs a run at games & maintain fitness, & a change of scenery would help. to me this is a like for like. both talented with issues. both could use a change to further their careers.

& as far a the op in prophecies, do you mean you couldn't figure it out. or your mean your mentally lazy to work it out.

'creativity' does not mean the missionary position laddy.

Trade a player for Kruezer...

What a joke.

not a joke wyl. the bloke can play, but he needs to turn things around & its tough to change habits at a club you've grown to struggle within. his only problem has been injuries at bad times to upset his momentum.

Howe was good today, he'd be worth an early pick to my eye.

Watts can measure up IMO.

We'd be doing well to get a 2nd round pick for Toumpas. - I'd take a 3rd.

Agree on bail and Cross.

Disagree on Garland, he was good today. He is as good as Frawley - yet we'd get nothing for him, so keep him, he is effective.

I understand anyone wanting to cut Trengove, but I wouldn't. Trengove has 2 levels to his running, we've only seen the 'one paced' version, he is better than that, I'd back him in. If Trengove gets past his injury - he will be an asset. Big 'if' though.

what am I missing re Wattsy KDA, what is it you see in him atmo.. could you describe another successful AFL player, who plays the way you think Wattsy can be like?

because I'm over it with him.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
