We may be able to put a couple of 2nd/3rd rounders together for a top 10 pick to one of the Academy clubs similar to last year and on trade that for Prestia- or has that loophole been closed?

not sure it is a loophole....just a points system for academy/fs drafts

still available, however afl has said it will monitor such deals to ensure there is no shonky dealing (which they do with all trades anyway)

Richmond will probably offer two first rounders for him similar to the Treloar trade and you want to offer a second rounder? Delusional

We couldn't match that anyway. So it's a moot point

Besides, It would be delusional to sell the farm for a player who doesn't fix their problems.

Just my opinion.

For what's it's worth, I'm not trying to generate spite or play devils advocate, I'm just teasing out what I believe is a situation we can take advantage of. Yes, at his best Prestia is an A-grader. Worth every cent and trade value. But, End of contact, injuries and an erosion of the projected club potential swing things in our favour. If Richmond over commit, I believe that's a win for us anyway.

However it pans out, I'd be ecstatic if he joins the club for whatever our recruiting department get him for. if that takes a first rounder +, then so be it. I guess we'll wait for the trade week outcome. I certainly didn't mean to ruffle your feathers (Abe, Adam, Tough Kenty and Doctor)

Of course we're all welcome to our opinion. I just think it's important that we get Prestia, because we need to improve our midfield and he will help in that area.

Totally agree Adam, always valued your opinion.  My point was, I think we can get him without selling the farm. I'm probably wrong. But, what's not to like about getting value for money.

I've always preferred top end Rhone wines rather than mid range Bordeaux. If that makes me un-demon-like, then tar and feather me.

Interesting if true. Means he would be going to a club that is not only not the club he and his family support and is on the rise, but has chosen a club that will need a rebuild.

Again, if true, it would suggest that either we dropped off, or they made a much better offer and he is going for the dollars only.

We will see.

If we can get him wed be stupid to look a gift horse in the mouth. Our disposal is still all over the place, we still need to add class to our midfield .

If it's good disposers we need, Prestia should not be heading the queue. His disposal is solid, but i wouldn't classify it as good.

Heard much the same thing over the weekend.

I also heard that the Suns are working hard to keep him so I wouldn't regard anything you might hear other from the player or his manager as conclusive just yet and neither of them are saying anything.

we went strong 18mths ago, but not sure we've thrown a lot at him this time.  We have greater needs

We don't have greater needs than talent.

Our midfield is good, but it could be better. Vince is 2 seasons away from retirement or serious decline, and is unlikely to be around when we are serious contenders.

Premierships are won and lost in the middle.

Prestia would and should be high on our list

My honest opinion is that i think we have cooled on him. Numerous times the club has been into his ear yet continue to get turned down by him to the point where the club has probably said stuff him now.

I wouldn't be all that surprise if we are putting in more work into Andrew Gaff (whos yet to sign a new deal) and maybe someone like a Josh Kelly.

Either would almost put the finishing touches and class into our already growing midfield talent.

I agree and so have I.

I've watched him closely lately and he's underwhelmed.  I'm not sure we need him.

If he's not keen then you're completely right, we don't need to waste time on him.

But if he is keen, and at the right price, we would be stupid not to go after him.

Now thats interesting you said that because this year i have made more of an effort to watch more GC games purely on the base of watching Prestia (and also a cousin playing up there)

Have to say i have been underwhelmed also. His disposal by foot is very ordinary.

Paul Roos said couple of weeks ago we would still be chasing an A grade midfielder at years end. While these guys aren't A graders id have these guys ahead of Prestia purely on maybe more upside. Jack Steele and Brad Crouch.

Depends upon one's point of view Red.

Carlton have won as many games as us this year and pantsed us last year. Their supporters might think differently.

Their supporters might, but players won't. Reckon he signed with us recently. We shall see.

Signed with us recently? Wouldn't have thought that was allowed half way through a season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
