While I didn't always agree (did mostly) with Dees2014 posts I found his input very valuable and informative. I'm sure most and probably all DL's feel the same. So Dees2014 we want you back!

"ESSENDON is not revealing its game plan to top-up players to avoid secret strategies being leaked to other clubs. The Bombers are holding separate team meetings for its senior list and the 13 top-up players who have joined the club during the NAB Challenge."

Hardly motivational for the 13 players that may be playing for EFC for some part of the season! EFC seems to find new high levels of arrogance and new low levels of integrity.

I'm surprised they are even holding team meetings with the top up players. Seems a waste of time for all involved.

I mean Hird and Little told us their players would not be suspended.

do the "secret strategies" include how to mask specified "pharmacological experiments" through retention of legal advisers to ensure no trail of correspondence or evidence is available?

But this surely is EFC's 'intellectual property' which these blow-ins could pass on to anyone else.

DP, the 'secret strategies' are pretty straight forward - if you can read between the lines - use the STAB pass wherever possible, in the same VEIN vain always try to OUTMUSCLE your opponent.

Lol wow, wtf... Credibility shot!

Maybe not entirely since this thread involves a very different issue. But it was a pretty bizarre reaction.

So EFC has named another player in their quest for confidentiality.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/essendon-name-2012-player-mark-baguley-brisbane-lions-to-unveil-allen-christensen/story-fni5f22o-1227267774403

As usual I'm confused. Does that mean they know Baguley will get off, in which case how do they know? Or is he expendable? - a player who is likely to be delisted so they don't care when his penalty starts? And maybe the more nqr players booted out for longer, the more 'compensation' from the AFL they hope to get.

It means he isnt one of the 17

Thanks. Do you know how many are currently being made anonymous by hiding behind how many others?

Interesting summary on possible penalty of EFC players the other day, by Grant Baker in the Hun.

If he is correct, they could in fact serve no games, or just a few, if found guilty.

I can imagine the outcry if he is correct, from WADA and other sports.

As 6 of the 8 clean skins have been outed by the efc and they I believe those 6 are all rookie or first year players in 2012.

Does this mean efc didn't trust new players with the good stuff. It would seem a very big coincidence that only new players said no.

I think they weren't asked to partake in the program as efc didn't trust them enough yet.

People. Stop looking for conspiracies around every corner. It's also possible that first year players had plenty of room to develop without the need for any added supplements.

And Yet they're talking about potential two year bans for Ryan Crowley and the RL player who tested positive today... hmmm.

The cynic in me says that maybe the program started earlier than 2012 ...:o

Cant believe anyone gives substance to utterances via the Hun. They're part of the ruse.

This,

They are basically an Essendon magazine.

Only for the duration of the penalty. If it's 4 games, they'd be able to resume playing after that, even if ASADA is appealing. An appeal doesn't change the status or duration of a sanction.

On the other hand, if they start playing again, and are subsequently penalised additional/further games, this would only start from the date of the hearing/ruling ... unless the players took voluntary provisional suspension, e.g. from when the 4 game penalty is up.

FWIW though, I can't see how this scenario could become a reality, as I can't see how the players - if found guilty - could get less than 12 months. They wouldn't be able to satisfy enough of the conditions (no significant fault PLUS provide substantial assistance). Perhaps, as has been rumoured, a couple of the players have confessed and provided info on the program, in which case they might just be able to get it down to 6 months. Might. But for the bulk of them with their "stick it up your ASADA" approach, that's not going to work.

Cheers. I was listening to the Bigfooty podcast the other day and they indicated that the players would remain suspended until any appeal was heard.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
