Ernest...it WILL be resolved That occurs with the process having worked its way to its logical conclusion. This may yet require appeals etc from any and all but it will end. That this may not happen to a schedule of the AFL's liking is tough turkey really. That this may upset and annoy various to do with Essendon is really of no consequence. Do the crime, do your time.

If those governing a sport see a breach and subsequently impose a penalty well thats all there is to it.

Not everything has a price, sometimes principles are above it.

Essendon may well not like whats coming there way, but there was a simple solution to the current state of affairs.........

ASADA are only pursuing TB4 which makes me think they think they have a slam dunk case on that and didnt need to pursue the rest.

The AFL's charge sheet was only in relation to governance issues and NOT anti-doping violations (explicitly at the request of EFC funnily enough which opens them up for further club sanctions of the players are found guilty). However the charge sheet was informed by the ASADA investigation and the preliminary report they released at the time.

ASADA has had no choice politically but to take some action. My suspicions are that TB4 is their best chance which is why they've gone with that one over all the others. Given that it appears that the evidence is non-physical (ie, not a positive drug test result, but matters such as interviews, purchase orders and chains of custody), getting a case on each substance would be difficult, time consuming and potentially very arguable. I have no idea whether ASADA's case is watertight or not - but I can see the possibility of a less than solid case being pursued for political reasons. I suspect ASADA would rather try and fail than be seen not to be pursuing the matter at all.

While that could be a possible scenario, do you believe that is plausible govern the number of external reviews by independent parties? I.e. judges, usada etc.

Also, remember that the ASADA action ended when the players were issued show cause notices. It was then a separate, independent (Abbott) government-appointed, anti doping review panel who took the ASADA case, reviewed it and decided to place the players on the register of findings.

These steps are independent of ASADA and are effectively bipartisan. Is it really a plausible scenario when all that is considered?

Doesn't matter if they accept it or not. If they cop suspensions (let's say for arguments sake it is 2 years) they have the right of appeal however until the matter is heard at the appeals tribunal the suspensions will remain in effect. So they can appeal but they'll be sitting in the stands while they do and they won't be allowed to train or have any contact with the club either as far as I'm aware.

The fate of the EFC supplement scandal seems a bit of foregone conclusion kind of like Abbott as PM. A few people have opinions either way but the majority of people have lost interest and will just wait while things run their course.

I am not all over the law in regard to this matter, but cannot see how this conflict can me settled any other than by way of mediation. the wild card has always been hird. however, cannot see how the AFL, EFC and ASADA can resolve this any other way. ultimately all the parties need to move on.

I have always said on here that the judgement from the AFL Tribunal will not be the end of it. Hird and Little clearly seem to think they can intimidate the local tribunal through their network of press, political (State and Federal) and sporting contacts - and they are probably right. The initial findings in April I am predicting will be grossly inadequate, will be appealed initially to the Appeals tribunal of the AFL, will be still inadequate, and will then be taken to CAS by WADA.

McDevitt was merely reflecting this reality. I wonder how many of the Senators were ESSENDON supporters. I bet a few were. They seem to be everywhere in the political establishment!
