WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL WHITE

The Red Fox

Recommended Posts

Second Round Rookie Pick. Dandenong Stingrays.

And we're done. Full list, no Tapscott. Shame.

White capped off a fine year in the TAC Cup, winning the club champion award.

Mitchell predominantly played as a rebound defender, culminating in a best and fairest for the Stingrays this year. Hes a long, raking left-foot kick, who has really good defensive nous, national recruiting manager Jason Taylor toldmelbournefc.com.au.

Story: White selected at No.20

18 year old rebounding defender from Dandenong Stingrays. 188cm, 85kg.

Won the best and fairest this year averaging 19 disposals and 5 marks per game this year and was also in their best 11 out of 16 games.

I know a small portion of the White family and Mitch played for the same junior club as I. With good knowledge I can confirm that for his size he is a competitive kid, was a big goal kicking CHF as a junior but turned to a defender when he got selected to sting rays and Vic country, he won the FDJFL (league) best and fairest in under 15's and was a multiple best and fairest winner in a side that won 3 premierships in a row in the top division. Mitch played in the same side as Jack Lonie and Rourke Fischer, a massive kick of the footy and very athletic. Mitch was also involved in a cricket squad which went to England to tour. Multi-talented and is up for the challenge, good get for the dee's, a versitile player who can play both ends.

Edit: Due to his physical strength and abilities it wouldn't surprise me if he was recruited as a big bodied midfielder. He was always an athletic foward in juniors and a versatile defender in Sting-Rays. Has the capability to become a damaging midfielder.

He had a game at Fullback for Vic Country against WA in which he gathered 20 odd disposals and was damaging, one of the best on the field.

Highlights are up.

Wowee his kicking is seriously good! I know they are only highlights but its obvious his kicking is his main strength and also his courage.

Watching that reminded me so much of Luke Hodge.

Solid lad too.

Rapt with this pick, have been craving a young rebound defender to develop behind Lamumba, and White's a pretty good one, not my first choice, but like him as a player.

Saw him play a few times this year, think he has a bit of Hibberd about him. Just a booming kick, and played well whenever I watched Dandy.

Don't want to go the early crow, but he would be just about the best kick in the team. Beautiful kicking motion, and going by the goal he kicked, he's able to use his right foot too (quite rare for a left footer).

Don't want to rain on the parade but I've been told his kicking needs a lot of work, direct quote from a recruiter at another club "long kick, but not a good kick". It's a highlights package remember

Hes a rookie

Hes not meant to save the club

Hes here to add to the equation .He'll be trained and educated where he lacks.

In short he'll undergo development

Welcome Mitch caveat emptor

I think GTG was just easing the expectations on him from the best kick in the team call. Not suggesting he needed to save the team.

Call it what you like. Hes a rookie.

The qualifications called on him were over zealous simply for the point hes a rookie.

dont run from it now ..own it.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
