I always thought this guy would play 250 games for us and lead us to a premiership. In 2006 after that final I thought he was destined to become a star for us.

He has now been delisted on 157 games.

Take away the Tanking drama its been a massive fall from grace for McLean.

Something I agree with Dazzle man. However, I'll never forget the pivotal semi final vs St Up themselves and Brock Mc Lean played a magnificent, gutsy spirited game!

You have to think with his lack of speed that it's all over!

Sorry, I can't take away the tanking drama. He may well have been the pawn of those who had political aims against individuals on the board or the board itself or he may not. Whatever the case, the effect of his stupidity caused untold damage to the club and I for one, would not like to see him near the place again.

His 2006 season was every bit as good for a young player as what Tyson did this year. BOG in our most recent finals win! I really thought he was going to reach the level Nathan Jones has. In the end he injuries and lack of pace caught up with him.

Unpopular opinion, I think he would improve our side and I'd take him back for free but I realise this probably won't happen.

Not the smartest guy around and I doubt there would be too many Dee supporters who would feel the slight sadness for him after his performance OTC.

Get stuffed Brock.

Brock who?

Recruited 2003 as pick 5 in a weak draft. The visions were the McLean would a solid central staple in the midfield along with Bell Moloney Sylvia.

However the game changed around 2005 and the game got progressively quicker and slower midfielders that did not hurt the opposition by hand or foot were exposed. Together with some off field escapades the aspirational vision for Brock evaporated.

We did well to get pick 11 for him off Carlton. It's a pity we stuffed it up on Gysberts. Did little to suggest MFC made a mistake in clearing him to Carlton.

A mid-skilled one paced midfielder who last 11 season in the AFL for moderate success. Can't see him with another AFL gig.

I have nothing but respect for Brock McLean now the dust has settled. We all followed blindly when we shouldn't have, and he stood up for himself.

Brock McLean isn't to blame for the tanking sanctions, the halfwits in charge at the time are.

Exactly people berate Mclean because he stood up for what he thought wasn't right for this footy club and at the end of the day he is right. That tanking saga ran by two of the biggest [censored] strainers in the MFC in Connelly and Schwab set this club back a further 6 years.

Brock even mentioned that he felt for Dean Bailey because this was coming from the likes of Stynes, Connelly and Schwab who instigated all this and Bailey had no choice but to go by their orders.

Lets not forget he also donated $10,000 towards out of his own pocket money to help this club.

Still cant believe they traded us pick 11 for him

Also cant believe we used it on jordy gysberts

Also cant believe he was so bad

I believe such a situation in the American military is called a "Cluster .uck". The yanks can provide useful additives to our language on (rare) occasions.

Couldn't happen to a better bloke. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, Brock.

As a fine, for being a complete dick. At least get it right if you are going to deify someone.

i thought he donated $10 Grand to the Foundation Heroes out of his own pocket?

I think Brock was probably right about all the things the club was doing wrong. Unfortunately it ended up hurting us a lot more than it hurt him to let everyone know that.

If things had gone better, I'm sure he would still be around at Melbourne.

Still the inspiration for my username as well, for what it's worth. Never got around to changing it after he left.

10K to Debt Demolition.

And you're having a go at others for not knowing what they're talking about...

WTF!

Do your research first before looking like an absolute [censored].

He donated towards the debt demolition to try and help this club clear its debt. He was the only player that stood up that night and said he was willing to dig into his pocket and donate to our frail club. It was a terrific show of leadership and he will always be part of the MFC in helping this club get rid of the debt.

He is understood to have been hurt and disappointed recently when asked to take a pay cut after spending $15,000 at a Demons auction night and, last year, donating $10,000 to the club's Debt Demolition program.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
