Liam Jones wants to explore trade options after frustrating season with Western Bulldogs

He's been in and out of the Bulldog line up since day one and yet his club desperately needs good key forwards.

Interesting.

Very interesting. Given the quality of the dogs midfield and their lack of key forwards, you'd think they're an ideal club for a young, big forward to make a name for himself. Very popular player at the club as well.

I've seen little to indicate that this guy is any good.

Yes but to be fair he has had to play as the No1 target when he has played.. SEN were saying Carlton as the front runner last night.. He'd be their 3rd tall, hence third defender, I could see that actually working.

Do we need another Jones at the club?

Jacks and Jones....we're into collections aren't we ??

He looked good on Sunday in the VFL final with 5 goals in a high standard game. He is big, physical and has good hands. His problems are above the shoulders perhaps.

I'd prefer Tom Jones.

I'd prefer Zac Jones to both of them.

I am not sold on Liam Jones. He was horrible against us in round 15 (1 disposal before being subbed) and not much better in round 8 (8 disposals in another close fought game). I can't say I watch many doggies games, and the truth be told the dees v dogs games where the only doggies games I watched for the 2014 season, and he looked out of place at AFL level and a liability to his team mates.

I am sure he has more to offer, and has some development to do, but from what I understand he is seeking more money and more opportunity to play when the side he is with is crying out for a player of his mold? Something doesn't add up here, and I think this is one of those steer clear type situations.

We'll get mentioned with every tall who comes on the market, because it's obvious we need at least 1 or 2 more with Clark and Chip going. Some people on here seem to be on heat for every player who wants to move clubs or is delisted.

For what I've seen I'd prefer Butcher over Jones, but trust that Roos, Stones and co will find a tall diamond in the rough somewhere.

Why, why, why?

wonder if he'll sing the Frawley song ? :)

Back in 2008 I'd have taken a chance. Good athlete, has all the talent just can't deliver it.

If Carlton or some other club get him for a 3rd round deal they could be on to a steal. Definitely better than the Pies trying for someone like Jesse White.

But as of right now we need to back in Dawes, Hogan, Fitzpatrick and Pedersen I think. Given the state of our list that's enough to spend on key forwards.

Let's redirect energies in to finding some decent midfielders and flankers. Ideally we find someone in the draft who's a proper developing tall and can be utilised at either end like a Sam Reid at Sydney.

If you're going to take a chance of fixing a floundering prospect then go with the delisted or very cheap prospect like Sam Grimley from the Hawks who's barely had a shot at AFL level and can have a go as a second ruck as well.

R&B where is Butcher at these days? When he did finally play for Port a few years ago he kept kicking goals then he disappeared from sight again after an injury I think.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
