Little has been said on Demonland in relation to Wright but he could be even more imposing in the forward line as well as a good acquisition to our ruck stocks!

Whoops wrong thread!

Ok, so Port are struggling to appease the bummers for Paddy Ryder.

Piece of cake..

Dees pick 3 to Port

Wines to Dees

Pick 3 to the Bummers.

Apologies in advance to P-man if this is more suited to the 'Whines Lounge".

He had a very interrupted season, if they took the highlights from his underage year you would get a much better picture of his upside.

I'm not sure how anyone else sees this but pretty much all the highlight packages have been underwhelming this year, is it a directive to give a broader view of the player or is this a really poor draft year. 'Chaser', you watch a bit of this level what are your thoughts?

Back to McCartin, our recruiters should have a good read on him, can he reach the potential of last year or is this year a better gauge.

Remember Jack Darling had a poor last year at junior level and everyone here was complaining about us missing out on him when we had the chance to pick him up.

Thanks rjay but not basing it on the highlights but on what I have seen and heard.

He is a solid and smart player.

Geez, Cats are desperate to ditch this guy:

Varcoe may join Collingwood in three-way deal

Geelong premiership player Travis Varcoe could become a Collingwood player, by becoming the missing link in a three-way trade with Melbourne and Geelong involving Heritier Lumumba and Mitch Clark.

The Magpies arepursuing the dynamic Cats wingman, who could form the third part of a triangular deal for Lumumba to move to Melbourne and Clark to resume his AFL career as a Cat.

North Melbourne retains a keen interest in Varcoe and it is not a fait-accompli that Varcoe could complete a neat three-way trade for the players. Collingwood would need to come to satisfactory terms with Varcoe, but it is understood the speedy midfielder is open to moving to the Magpies or North Melbourne.

Either way, I'm glad we're sticking fat with both Collingwood and Geelong. Not giving up our second rounder for Lamumba is a good start, and getting more off Geelong (albeit heading to Collingwood) isn't bad either. Still think Geelong are the biggest winners in that trade; would really prefer to get more than just Lamumba, like Geelong's 3rd rounder.

Geelong - Clark

Melbourne - Lamumba

Collingwood - Pick 33 and Varcoe

First you say we are getting Dangerfield and then you say Toumpas wants a trade. I hope for your sake there is some truth to what you are saying about Shiel or else your credibility will be smashed....

Sorry, I thought the trade period was still going? And besides that, we can only post hear what we hear. Nothing concrete!

I also said we were going hard at Dangerfield, not that we were getting him!

This is terrible for us. This assumes that Clark has almost the least value of the three. I would want extra from Geelong to make this work, say even swapping our late pick for their second rounder. Geelong are paying way unders for Clark unless more is happening.

McCartin's had some dominant games this year, but his Champs were interrupted by injury, which is where most of the highlight packages tend to come from.

He has the most advanced game (in terms of forward play) of all the talls this this year, hence the high ranking. McCartin has good running patterns to go with his strength and strong hands, but at his 193, McCartin's not at the taller end of the key position spectrum. Also, he's very much a stay at home ff, and clubs are looking more and more for versatility in their falls.

I'd be happy enough to take him and be confident he'd be a good player, but not so bullish about his ceiling. I'd have him a rung, maybe two, below Hogan, Boyd & Patton at the same stage.

Heard that we like Jake Lever more than McCartin and could well go with Lever if we take both picks to the draft.

Thanks 'Chaser', just listening to Lever on the radio this morning and he sounds very impressive. Could of sworn he was a coach or 300 game veteran the way he spoke. These kids are well trained not just in football skills.

I think this about pretty much every player who is picked up to the AFL system, especially after listening to NRL players speak at the grandfinal

I just ran into a Melbourne person who is employed at the club, know him very well, there is nothing happening behind the scenes. Players we targeted have not wanted to move, and at this stage a sit stands, we are taking 2 & 3 to the draft. He did say, there are still 5 days to go, but its all very quiet at the moment.

Just passing on.

We get H for Clark. The rest of it means nothing to us.

If we can keep our 3rd and 4th rounders for Garlett and Frost and use 23 in the draft or even in a later trade then that is a win.

Im warming to any mix of the top 3. My druthers are Brayshaw and McCartin. Smoke em if you got em.

While it would've been nice to pick up a ready made, midfield star, if we bring in Lamumba, Garlett, & Frost then go to the draft for any 2 of Brayshaw, Petracca, McCartin then I'd be happy (I prefer Brayshaw and Petracca).

If we used picks 2 & 3, is be much happier with Lever and Brayshaw than most other combos.

Don't want McCartin, personally.

So much for Roos being the master list builder. To date he has lost our number 1 forward and number 1 defender, and the best he might be able to do in return is Lumumba and Garlett, both unwanted by their current clubs. Perhaps he should cancel his holiday and work on bringing some established midfielders to the club.

The two win season we are heading for next year will be fun to watch.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
