That sums up everything on Facbook then

Its that time of year. No skin off my back if you beleive or dont.

They would take that to the bank. You don't need to offer that much. Orouke's currency is now down to a mid 20s pick.

In the Melbourne vernacular there are 2 chances of getting the number 2 draft pick from the 2012 draft pick by trading a mid 20s pick in the 2014 draft.

Buckleys. And. Nunn.

Saints would be unwise to drag their feet too much longer drafting a long-term KPF replacement for Riewoldt. Whoever they get needs at least 2 or 3 years under Riewoldt to learn their craft.

Basically, they'd be idiots not to take McCartin or Wright in this draft. Nick's days are numbered.

I swear I'll vomit if GWS are given another number 1 pick.

They won't be "given" one they'll have to trade for it which any club is open to - its just that most clubs refuse to join the 21st century and engage in true "win/win" trades.

The quote hear from Roosey doesnt surprise given the whispers around.

so if we might expect some trade surprises this off season anyone dare to speculate? Presume contract status may not be decisive?

The three 't's' from SA heading home? Watts to pies?

3 T's from SA: Which 3 out of Terlich, Tapscott, Trengove & Toumpas?

Would be stupid to trade Trengove unless we got an offer to good to refuse, which we wont

If the foot surgery has fixed his issues and he can move freely and gets some acceleration back it will be a massive boost for the midfield and the MFC

O'Rourke is not worth a mid 20's pick at the mo.

Worth watching in the context of some of this discussion is the new film "Draft Day". OK, it's American Football, and the trade/draft system is different, but there are any number of parallels, including clubs being pressurised by fans' expectations into making, well, unwise decisions.

A lot of ppl need to go and buy the book "Roos speak for Dummies"

I Say this not as chastising , nor big-headedness but hopefully as thought provoking.

PR often says things in a way to conceal the real thinkings behind the utterance.

In reality there are probably about 4-5 players that would have a .001% chance of getting traded. What Roos is saying is..."Show us your players, we'll show you ours" i.e Lets see what anyone else is prepared to put up. If yo were to be too super selective from the get go you will not entice anyone into your parlour.

This says "Melbourne is open for business" but all things have prices and some tags would be set very high making a deal next to impossible but we need to loosen the grip of other clubs to their players.

You need to bait the trap.

Tomlinson's currency is a top 6-10 pick, GWS would still rate Orouke's value from 10-20

Forget orourke. I would trade pick 3 to bulldogs for hrovat and pick 7. Trade pick 7 to ego for Tomlinson.

So we get petracca/brayshaw at 2, hrovat and Tomlinson.

If the saints trade pick 1 for orourke and jacksh the giants will [censored] themselves laughing

Agree. And just to put it in the correct language, what Roos is really saying is, "Of course I'd be prepared to trade Nathan Jones, but I expect Lance Franklin, Josh Kennedy, both Jack brothers and Sam Reid in return".

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
