ok now is time to panic

He has retired from footy so I'm not surprised.

If he was thinking of coming back to Melbourne then I doubt he would have removed it.

Or I'm just reading too much into it. Probably just reading too much into it.

He wants a new number - new start new number. He can have whatever number he wants!

Personally I think #54 has had far too little love in recent years. All yours, Mitch!

He's gone, FCS can't we all admit it already?

You can't understand the speculation ? - he has tweeted he is training albeit by himself.

There is speculation ( unsubstantiated) both from a reliable source on DL and plenty in the media that he is training and will decide end October if he wants to have another crack.

It may all amount to nothing but I would hardly suggest that the door is closed.

people who keep saying hes retired, its reported hes in training and will meet with his manager about a possible comeback

So what he's training, my wife's "training"....to keep fit.

As for the reliable source, i won't say one way or the other if I believe it. Even if Clark says he wants to play next year, translating that desire into actually running out again on the G and not suffering another heartbreaking pre-season in the rehab group remains to be seen.

My money is that this optimism/hope will amount to nothing.

You are probably right but you are asking posters to dismiss something that is not out of the realms. It is being fanned by posters, media and the man himself by posting that he is training

I'm a jaded pessimistic demon fan Nutbean, what can I say?

Meh... you are talking to the President of that club.

I think carrying the number 11 on his back was a really heavy burden for Clark and made his inability to get on the field that much harder for him to deal with.

He was very effected by Jim's passing, and obviously felt a huge sense of responsibility to represent that jumper.

It wouldn't surprise me, on the slim chance that he returns, that he chooses a different jumper number.

It's a small thing, but it might ease a lot of unnecessary anxiety.

He can have any number he wants FFS. JUST COME BACK MITCH!!

#54 would allow him to fly in under the radar - 'who is that 54, he looks like he can play a bit'

Wonder if there's a similar argument for Grimes. Has regressed since taking Barrassi's 31 (on Neeld's advice...another Neeld pearl of wisdom).

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
