It's a shame that the GWS game is next week and not in a few weeks, they would've been the perfect opposition to roll him out to for the first game. Perhaps the last round, bring him in similar fashion to what we did with Grimes a few years back. Just give him (and the supporters) a taste of what's to come.

Sounds like he's raring to go, not surprising, must feel like a caged animal!

Glad to hear Toumpas is back healthy again, I really want him to do well, and he's shown glimpses but nothing concrete yet.

Thanks for the report Saty.

Any sign of, or word of Salem??

Unbelievable that Pedersen has to miss a few weeks and have Surgery but Merrett gets off free!

Disgusting MRP!!

Disgusting...or corrupt?

Certainly bloody inconsistent.

I hope Toumpas returns to the seniors before the end of the year.

Would be good to see the Toump, Salem and Hogan get a run before the end of the year, would much rather the kids play than blokes like Tapscott

I'd be surprised to see the Toump on the play again in the senior team this year. You can lose a lot of conditioning after a surgery like that. Best thing for him would be to look towards the pre season and start fresh. Maybe get in the last 2 games at Casey

Cheers for the update report. Can't believe Merrett didn't cop a suspension.

You must be naïve and / or have not been watching MRP rulings, if you believed that there would ever be any consistency or honour in their rulings.

I am not sure whether I should be more concerned were they proven corrupt or merely inept

Disgusting MRP!!

His Coach joined the long line of commentators who were stunned he wasn't given at least 2 weeks.

We have to learn, as someone already said on here," the head is sacrosant, unless it is a Melbourne player." Sylvia says "Hi" to Eagle Josh Kennedy.

Isn't David Neitz on the MRP?

Funniest thing is even Leppitsch can't believe.

( he is in the press on this)

That was part of my weighting.. It just flies in the face of what everyone ( nearly ) thought would be the outcome. He ( Leppa) is like the cat that got the cream, cant believe Merrett is still selectable.

The MRP isnt even a joke.....theyre funny...the panel isnt

Hogan playing a game is probably the only thing that could raise my care factor from negative ten to two, maybe three, hurry up and kill the season.

It's funny because after last week's game I was as disenchanted as I have ever been, but now with another game closing I have it back.

I think it's the feeling (or desperate hope) that the boys will be intent on making up for what was their absolute worst effort of the year.

I want to see what they can give us the next few weeks, and I will be seriously p$#@ed off if we don't win at least the GWS game.

We can say farewell to Strauss, Nicholson, Blease and McKenzie without a backward look. There might still be more to learn.

Apparently you can do whatever you like against a Melbourne player and not get suspended, but God forbid a Melbourne player do something that has a whiff of controversy - just check out the Jack Viney and Jack Trengove results - still can't believe Trenners copped 3 weeks for something no one else has ever been cited for!!

That stills hold the record for me. Suspended for an attempt, which the other player avoided and fell to the ground hurting himself slightly.

That could only happen to a Melbourne player.

I could imagine what the Scott brothers would have said if he played for them.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
