....part of me went along hoping for an improved showing, and sneak a win, the most part after the last week or two expected another 5 or 6 goal loss, but making it hard for Geelong........easy this week we went backwards, think Roos has a lot of work to do...positives for me were Viney and Riley (he had no one in the clear to kick to when he turned it over, the team had stopped running by then)...move on to next week, me banging on for 5 or 6 pages won't change anything, up to Roos and his coaches to fix it

Not far off though I had no expectation of a win mor anything close to it... got exactly what i expected. Well actually though we got let off a bit tttt.

Agree it is all down to Roos and Co but the FD need to given them a team they can coach and help. Currently we dont have enough to qualify as having 22 AFL standard ready to go players.

Some players have , well not excuses, but mitigation when considering their efforts.

A lot dont

My quote won't work, WYL you just don't get it do you, I keep the whingeing to myself, unlike some I try to be constructive...........part of me went along hoping for an improved showing, and sneak a win, the most part after the last week or two expected another 5 or 6 goal loss, but making it hard for Geelong........easy this week we went backwards, think Roos has a lot of work to do...positives for me were Viney and Riley (he had no one in the clear to kick to when he turned it over, the team had stopped running by then)...move on to next week, me banging on for 5 or 6 pages won't change anything, up to Roos and his coaches to fix it

Hahaha!!

What is it that i don't get Satyr???

Are you going to tell me our list is fine & just needs a few tweaks???

I recorded the game on foxtel, the fast forward button got a great workout. Have no interest in the rest of the season. What a boring game AFL has become.

I use to defend the game however really can't anymore.

Are Freo still interested in Watts?

Kepler Bradley or a box of pizza shapes for Jack Watts.

Beelzebub:

"dont tease me....you sure you can get a whole box ??"

I'd be happy with a pack of plain savoury shapes, open, stale and weevil infested. The weevils would have more heart.

It never was.

No but incorrect disposal is and it happens time and again. Good to see them tightening up a bit on it this weekend though, I'm sure it will vary game to game and next week it will be different again.

I'm not sure that unrealistic expectation is in the rule book either. Last night heard a good one when the umpire told a player the free kick was for interference in a the marking contest...yes I said that's it...then he let the unrealistic expectation thing come out of his mouth...oh no!

Did anyone see jack Viney and Andrew Mackie have a few choice of words and a push and shove after the game?

They mentioned it on the radio. I didnt hang around to watch the boys walk off but on mmm they said Mackie went up to Jack to have words with him then Selwood did. I mean god help it if Viney actually stood up for himself and had a go at precious boy selwood.

They then made a joke of how some of the geelong backline were having a chat with Frawley.

* The players looked tired, but jeez, they looked ordinary in every facet.

* Kent's pace stood out, because he's the only one who's got any sort of toe at all - despite Watts' draft result over 20m.

* Week in, week out, we lack line breakers. Geelong's two or three line breakers cut us apart numerous times today. We have far too many guys that are simply one-paced.

* Our disposal efficiency in the first quarter was not surprisingly below 50%.

* I thought Pederson and Riley were clearly our best, although Viney worked his arse off and did a couple of good things too. Slim pickings though. I couldn't name many more half decent players, which says it all.

* Our ball movement remained snail-like and continues to kill us every week.

* I cannot recall Frawley ever being outmuscled and/or beaten one-on-one so many times, in one game of football.

* How many mongrel kicks were there from MFC players today? Far too many.

* Was anyone else bored? It was never a contest. It was ugly without being close. The worst sort of AFL game.

Positives:

-Probably would have been 186 mk 2 under Neeld.

-Jack Viney.

-Aidan Riley showing a bit.

Negatives:

-The usual standard of umpiring we've come to expect.

-Pretty much every player aside from the two mentioned above. Special mention to Jamar's ruck work.

-Bernie Vince's haircut.

Thought Pederson did a couple of very good things too.

'Adam', I think it's time for Kent to get more of a run up the ground. I don't see him as a natural forward, particularly with the slim pickings available.

Throw him in the guts and lets see if he's got what it takes.

That's my point WYL, Roos will decide that, not the experts on here banging on for 5 or 6 pages, I have the feeling that some on here expected finals as soon as Roos put pen to paper, was never going to happen in a year...can't wait for the delisting thread this week to start up and another 30 odd pages of expert opinion...

If you look at today's performance you would say we maybe had 5 or 6 players capable of playing AFL footy to a high standard...yet a month or so ago when we beat Adelaide you would have said 22, that's the problem Roos has.....

The last couple of weeks have dropped, it is nearly the same players, Roos has to figure out why

I should have been more clear about the shapes.

We looked at them at thought about the elite taste, once received they turned out to be poor. But don't worry they're only 23 years old, still plenty of time to become some solid shapes.

I moved to the country 2 .5 years ago and have barely been to the footy since. I occasionally watch a game and have only been to the North game this year. I no longer sign up as a member and just received by MCC renewal and doubt I'll be taking that up any more. The AFL is a greedy corporate entity and the game is unwatchable at times. I have little interest with games involving Adelaide, Port, West Coast, Fremantle and Brisbane. I have absolutely no interest in games involving the suns or gws. That leaves me with about 8 games a year I enjoy or should enjoy watching. The game is too different for me to really enjoy anymore. My once beloved Demons who I've supported since 1970 have been beyond poor for too long now. I really don't care anymore. I've got too many better things to do. Roos will leave in a couple of years and we'll maybe play a few finals but can anyone really see any player on our list playing in a winning Grand Final for this club. I can't and I can't be bothered!

Don't want to be a Watts basher.... But as Leigh Matthews said he shows no appetite for the contest...

Why can Viney continue to fight & bust his guts @ every contest???

We simple don't have enough players to play @ afl standard

People will say they tried...

I saw no pride in most of those players performances.

No motivation to take a mark in the wet or nail a kick in favour of a team mate.

I get so depressed with this team.

What i learnt from today's game:

-Tim Watson is having a family lunch tomorrow for his birthday.

-Jobe didn't get a present and left it to his sisters.

-Apparently Tim's wife is a great cook.

-Tom Harley's kid is named after Jimmy Bartel.

-Maybe the umpire was sorry for Melbourne after a free kick.

-Tom Harley's guns are still pretty big.

The worst commentary EVER!!!

I know Richmond and Carlton and Collingwood supporters who feel the same.

Money killed yet another really enjoyable activity!

Ffs, this is a FOOTY FORUM - there will be discussion! Further, we all watch footy and most will know a good player when they see one.

Stop blindy posting blue sky commentary.

I also find your training reports creepy - there, I've said it.

We got rolled in a game that meant nothing to us on a cold Saturday afternoon. Not surprising in the slightest.

More list changes to come, still the same players not doing enough and we're tired.

Viney and Riley showing something the only real positives for the day. I'm tired of watching us though, going to be a struggle from here.

I was bored within 10 minutes.

This brand that Roos is instilling, whilst in its early stages of development, is absolutely dire in terms of entertainment.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
