I am predicting all 23 will be defending and no goals scored. Will be interesting to travel back to Bendigo. Went to Boarding School up there in the early 70's and played in two premierships at the QE oval. Actually snowed in 72. Hope the weather has improved.

JKH ... this weeks mystery illness

Continues MFCs 10 year tradition !!!

Or he could just be having a rest considering he is a first year player and has played every game this year.

Westrupp getting his first run in the seniors.

He was named in both the senior and development league teams last week but missed out on the main game. Judging by the MFC Casey report, he should be right to go against Bendigo Gold.

This is probably Bendigo's last chance for a win in the VFL before it makes its exit, so poorly has Casey been playing lately.

I have a theory that it relates to the fact that Casey is being instilled with the same defensive style as is happening at Melbourne. We've seen how hard it is to get a young team to learn this style at AFL level but it must be a lot harder when half your team is made up of young lighter bodied part timers, some of who have hardly had a previous season.

And here's a preview from the Bendigo perspective ~

i hope barry plays as a tagger all day and has a good game.

i really want him to make it.

and i hope that blease keeps putting pressure on roos to select him by weight of possessions and a concerted workrate.

Now that he has resigned for another two years we all hope that he will make it!

Casey Scorpions have confirmed two new debutants to the senior team for its clash with Bendigo Gold - Dale Gawley and MFC international rookie from New Zealand, Maia Westrupp.

Looking forward to your reports KC, thanks for your efforts.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
