Post Match Discussion - Never in doubt

No Essendon player followed Salem down the ground. Goddard could have, but he went to Viney and Cross. When Cross had the kick, Hibberd was left in no-man's land between Salem and Dawes. Perfect running into space by everybody.

Is there really a need for this?

I don't know about the Daniher comment, bit harsh.

But I'm sure Hurley cops plenty of stick for his stupid hair style! You go out to play with a man-bun, prepare to cop it.

One of the highlights was watching the team song and there was NO-ONE in the middle.

Been a while since I can remember seeing that. Sorry if it has already been noted.

They are really paying some stinkers this year. The rule is policed poorly and is reflective of umpires having never played the game. If you turn towards the boundary line you are opening yourself up to trouble.I really believe this rule should be policed very leniently and unless it is absolutely 100% obvious then throw it in.

particulalry the ones that travel 40m or so. WTF are the players suposed to do? Kick it directly to an opposition player??

They look up the field, see oppn players and kick it down the line, sometimes with spin to make it go out. That is brilliant in my view. Great talent. To pay deliberate for that which they do is insane. Particularly when the ball bounces sideways.

Maggots.

I was so happy for my grandson today, he was over the moon after the game. You have to admire the kids who have stuck with us after all the cr@p we've put up over the last 7 years, he just turned 11 so we've been rubbish for most of his life.

Priceless. I had my seven year old daughter. Was the most fantastic experience seeing how delighted she was after the game. She is a demon for life now!

Would lynden dunn be the most improved player in the comp

Nope. Cam Pederson is. Dunn was a fringe AFL-level defender last year. Pedo was a straight up VFL-level dud. Not any more, and all credit to him for that.

I was just kidding

Im just enjoying the win, not sure why people took one dumb post I made in the gameday thread so literally. it was just a frustrating point in the game

Lets discuss the game

Go Dees

Anyone that has not made a mistake put your hand up........................ mmmm no one, as I thought, you're forgiven. Welcome back HH

Great win. It makes the drive back to Mansfield worth it. Believe me I have had some long depressing drives over the last few years. Even my wife enjoyed the last quarter, she talked about the game most of the way home, and she hates football!

Note to all the Melbourne supporters at the ground. We were loud, really loud. The players would have felt that.

The roar coming from the crowd the last 2 min was amazing. Obviously i heard it through the TV but still.

Im so envious for all the guys and girls that were able to be there to watch...

Great game! Can't believe we won it considering how poor our first half was

So many great potential gif moments

Not bad for a kid who was snubbed by WA U18s...

Roosy is an absolute coaching genius.

First half was diabolical. No run, no spread, losing contested footy, losing 1 v 1s. Second half, what a change in mindset and coaching. That's a real coaching bloke at the helm.

Reckon we can knock off North next week.

I think the coaching genius is that:

1. Roos knows the process and systems and requirements of September footy

2. Roos doesn't look at the scoreboard and react, like most of us. He sees the micro better than most. Hence when most of the footy world, including some of us, were worried about 3 goals against Collingwood, the macro scoreboard was the last thing on his mind.

Loved that goal, but I reckon his kick to Frawley was just as good, if not better.

The fallout from this game keeps rippling around, with dangerous isotopes landing among Carlton and Richmond.

For them, the Bulldogs and Melbourne both winning is putting a very sharp focus on their stagnation.

They both have fairly rough draws for the remainder of the season and would need to lift their form to keep from being the other half of the bottom four, after Brisbane and the dire Saints.

And that was published before yesterday's game! He must be even happier now!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
