Post Match Discussion - Never in doubt

That last goal. Vince tackling Howlett in the pocket, Pedersen shrugging off the tackle, Jones using his left, Frawley's contest to bring the ball to ground, McKenzie's one-two with Frawley, McDonald's fantastic run off Daniher to link up and free Tyson and Viney, and Cross lowering his eyes to find Salem (he wouldn't have made the distance I doubt).

Under that kind of pressure, just unreal.

just like a real footy team

That deliberate OOB actually bounced of his knee, or just above it, it was purely accidental and a dreadful decision by the umpire.

Tommy has pretty good pace but sometimes he backs himself when he should get rid of it earlier, he has to understand that sometimes his opponent is quicker.

Love to win a game by 10 goals, I'm too old for these close ones, but I must say today was just great and to see the opposition leaving while I was singing the song made just that much better.

You might want to look at that deliberate OOB again, he tapped it over with his hand, nowhere near his knee. There were a whole bunch of shocking decisions elsewhere though, including 2 in the 2nd quarter that lead directly to Bummer goals.

That last goal was footy utopia.

It had everything. Dare, decision-making, execution. So many split-second decisions; so many perfect choices. It was a tsunami of perfection.

We just need to learn how to start games properly then we will have the complete package.

I put some of our tardy starts down to the team trying to control the tempo of the game. You are right though, we do need to jump out of the blocks a lot better.

We saw some "tempo" footy today and it certainly caught the Bombers out - they didn't see it coming. There's no better way to win against that mob. Plus, the victory was by one solitary point ... sweet as.

We've got North next Sunday at the MCG. The expectation should now be that we will win next week (that view should certainly be true amongst the players and the coaching staff)

I had my heart in my mouth when Macca had the ball and was running.

Agree we have to be a good chance against North cause they are coming back from the loss in Adelaide and will be on the wide open spaces of the G this Sunday.

God it would be good to win TWO in a row.

I was in the opposite pocket and it looked to me as if it came of his knee, I know he was paddling it toward the line but that's what I thought I saw. There were plenty of similar incidents during the game where players paddled it over the line and no free kicks were paid.

After the last few years, one in a row is good.

daniel cross definitely needs to be given an extra year. He has been fantastic this season,.

I'll see your year and raise you two, there's no reason he can't keep going and he's probably in the top 4 or 5 fittest players at the club.

Love the way he plays.

His kicking today was pretty scary, let's be honest, but he left his one good kick till last. The rest of his game is just superb though.

he played exceptionally well today,. Great leadership on the filed. Some desperate smothers and tackles. Real cool head on his shoulders.

We are lucky to have him.

I was so happy for my grandson today, he was over the moon after the game. You have to admire the kids who have stuck with us after all the cr@p we've put up over the last 7 years, he just turned 11 so we've been rubbish for most of his life.

It is a brutal game and when you start to assert yourself physically it's amazing how a game can change. I thought our tackling and pressure in the second half was a key reason for the turn around. It's incredible how a team starts to run in numbers when a big tackle, chase down or smother creates a turn over.

Agreed. Loved Riley's tackle. I think Cross also had a couple of smothers in the 2nd half which showed his intent. He is just an out and out honest hard worker in the same vein as Jnr McDonald.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

And to any melbourne supporter reading this, you have, and always will be irrelevant you snow seeking, sheltered, sidefringe wearing, collar repping, exclusively craft beer drinking, pea hearted bunch of absolute jerk-offs.

Unfortunately, the kind of powder that the Dons have been seeking has gotten them in the trouble they are currently in.

I was there which was a little unusual as I have a home game membership. However, some Japanese friends wanted to go to a game and we nominated this one.

What a bunch of whinging flogs. I haven't seen a crowd who tries to suck the umps in with their constant moaning like Essendon's do.

Best win I have seen in person full stop (close second being our 3 point win over Collingwood in 1998 when, of all people, Brent Grgic turned the game on it's ear).

A good game to take some newcomers to. What did they think?

Why ruin a beautiful moment by talking of Brent Grgic?!

B&F was obvious round 2.

Kicking is better this year, but he must not kick to low-percentage options that kill you. Worst kicking game this year actually.

He has never relied on speed. Hence he has 2 years left in him no doubt.

My son's in the same boat... he's just truned 12 and hasn't seen a lot of success. It was certainly a lift for him though after his team, the Newtown Swans, were suffered a 38 point loss to the ladder leaders earlier in the day.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
