The free against Dunn did not have to be paid in the context of the game. Once again we get shafted by a soft free. It was such a fantastic effort by both teams until then. The umpires had put the whistle away... No, there was still one maggot prepared to take the game on the whistle!

Killed the momentum but we should have iced the game by then.

Really [censored] off that we threw it away by allowing second rate crap like tom Williams and crameri to basically win the game for them. Pathetic.

We need to kick lower and harder. The Bulldogs did. It looked in the 1st half like we didnt want to make it to difficult to mark.

Plenty of balls were easily cut off by slow ball movement.

It seemed to stop after half time.

Watts IS slow.

It seemed he often wanted to celebrate some-ones goal and Frawley or Dawes would tell him to settle and keep concentrating.

When he does concentrate he is not tentative.

That was the one that got away. Should have won that by 3 goals plus, but didn't have the quality to get it done.

Still, the improvement is obvious, but still gutted we threw that one away.

I'm not mad, we played really well..

Tyson, Viney, Salem, JKH..

All our young kids are tracking along beautifully.

This year we are putting in A LOT of effort, that is all that matter.

The scoreline doesn't matter, wins would be great, but this year we see effort and intent.. And dare I say - consistency.

Yeah, well I'm mad. How can you not be? We let one slip in a period where victories are like gold.

Matt jones TWO crucial misses. Fmd learn to kick goals.

On the bright side Salem looked good again.

He should start next wk and drop Byrnes (please)

That wasn't a soft free, there is no such rule, it was not there period. A backman has a right to stand his ground or does he have to run away now? That decision was utter bullshyte at a crucial time in the game. Umpires just floor me sometimes. Why pay that Shyte at that time in a game? They don't do much for their own cause.

Fuming.

We should have won. We still have no idea how to win games.

So frustrating. And Frawley, Matt Jones and to a lesser extent Salem should have all nailed those goals. Not good enough.

Both Dunn and McDonald lowered their colours tonight. That f'ing spud Crameri, FML!!!

Adam Cooney is a turd. Seriously.

They scored far too easily. Kicking some out of their arse too. Then we missed crtical chances. Despite what others may say. we did miss Terlich once he went off.

That game hurts like hell. I can't complain about the umpiring, although clearly the match winning goal was a blatant umpire gift and completely undeserved, BUT we had our chances with M. Jones and he failed to deliver on what should have been a bloody easy goal.

We also got favoured by the umps all night, so if that stupid free kick was the compensation, it was a small price to pay. Fact is, we don't have the quality or the class JUST yet, but by god we're making strides.

Put it this way, when was the last time a loss genuinely hurt this badly? That's a much better feeling than being flogged by a hundred points every freaking week, isn't it?

Never been so angry about a game

We are better than the Bulldogs, they are a joke

We threw this game away

Posted

OMG yes to Shannon Byrnes being gone forever. He is literally useless. We are playing a man down. Contributes nothing. Fumbles, doesn't get near it, doesn't crumb goals. Useless.

I would rather 10 Toumpas touches that gain him experience than watching Byrnes get games.

Yeah we coulda won, probably shoulda!

But how far have we come in a very short time and how good is it to be entertained by our team for the first time in years.

I hope That [censored] Barrett was watching Tyson closely tonight. 21 games of footy and fast approaching A grade material! Great stuff!

At the start of the season a fair few of us were saying we want to be competitive and we want to be in games for longer.

Well we are.

Yes we should have won but no we didn't unfortunately.

We are on the right track it's taken 7 yrs but it's finally happening.

Can't remember when a loss was so annoying tbh.

Like the saints game I felt we were better all night but the umpires won best on ground j counted 6 goals that were a direct result of dodgey free kicks

Doggies scored when they had their chances. We controlled the whole bloody game but couldn't make it count. Looked a bit sluggish at times. Tyson is a bloody star.

I'd rather be supporting a team where 16 point losses hurt more than 100 point floggings.

I'm gutted about the smaller picture.

I'm actually thrilled with the bigger picture, but right now I'm just thinking about throwing away the chance to be 3-5.

Its games like this where teams with more experience just find that little bit extra to take the game on and get a win, and its losses like this that hurt the players because they know they should have won it but couldnt get over the line. Now the real test is to see if we get in this position again, what the players do.

Salem? Really Jaded? 3rd game. 3rd time sub.

No it wasnt anything to do with Salem.

We should have been in front before he even got on the ground.

We still lack leadership.

Byrnes is in because he does the non negotiables. He affects contests better than others such as blessed Strauss toumpas at this stage. They need to be able to do the non negotiables better then will go past him.

Unfortunately Byrnes offensive game is limited these days at afl level.

Look I said to a lesser extent because he's a baby and the pressure got to him.

Still, a player of his quality will be spewing that he missed that set shot. It was very gettable.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
