Max did reasonably well in the ruck and around the ground. He dominated the hitouts although his onballers didn't really take advantage (except with the exception of McKenzie). He had 49 hit outs and 18 possessions according to the Scorpions Facebook page.

I can back up WJ on that one, Max was probably the best listed player in my eyes.

Started slowly but really worked into the game and was excellent in the ruck, which wasn't really capitalized on by the midfield.

Also thought Riley and Harmes tried hard without much return.

Overall no one grabbed the opportunity presenting itself which in itself was disappointing.

Did Gawnius maximus do / get the opportunity to do anything up forward as well?

so Garland finished the game?

Was this his second or third game back? Surely, if fit, he would be very close to a recall either as a defender or even as a forward to release Chip back to his best position.

Max spent most of his time in the ruck.

Plugger or Huddo would have struggled to kick a goal today the way the ball came in.

Almost time to put a line through Blease it would seem. Desperately disappointing. He had/has talent but years of injury and [censored] poor development have taken a toll.

Damn it. I was hoping to see him back this week. He makes us significantly better!

Given that Georgiou is facing suspension, he'd be a decent in.

How did Toumpas play, anyone??

Based on what I saw, Harmes will be a player. He has good pace, is hard and very clean. Skills seem reasonable, but it was really hard to tell in those conditions. Huge wind blowing across the ground.

Gawn killed Longer in the ruck. Just rag dolled him all day. Was solid around the ground. McKenzie was our best midfielder all day - comfortably.

Also, I must say that I haven't seen a team as unfortunate as Casey were today in terms of umpiring. Sandy were a far better team, but .... wow!

We were solid enough inside the packs, but Sandy broke free outside the packs too often and sliced Casey up when they did. Casey weren't clean enough outside when they had the chance to attack, which is similar to what happens at AFL level.

In -

Gawn, Kent, Riley

Out -

Watts, Byrnes, Jetta

And anyone saying Georgiou should be dropped are absolutely CLUELESS. He smashed LTR and didnt back down to anyone all game. I love him.

Howe is on his last chance too

Casey seems to be situated in a wind tunnel. Wonder if it's the best association for us

Its a terrible association

We were a solid team when we were linked with Sandy

Casey makes zero sense and its been a disaster from day 1

I cant remember whos idea it was but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cameron Schwabs since that guy couldnt do anything right

Sandy was also situated in a wind tunnel. Its ground was also a postage stamp.

Actually, Casey has been a fantastic move and it began before Schwab was back at the club.

He's one of many for me, come end of year I can see some other top 30 draft picks being delisted as they just show nothing at VFL level.

From today Gawn was pretty good ruck wise and Aiden Riley certainly has a crack and shows more intensity than the players that will be fighting to stay on an AFL list. He finds the footy and moves well in traffic, very similar to J Viney.

Other than that everything else was horrible and everyone looked slow, chasing tail all day.

One positive is I ran into Jesse Hogan and he was smiling and in good spirits. He spent most of the game time out with us plebs having a few jokes with the casey crew and JKH also.

There are threads devoted to the Casey alignment if you wish to search for it.

Great to hear. JKH crumbing to Hogan who snaps for goal. That's something I can look forward to week in, week out.

No, you're interpreting what you're seeing.

BTW, seeing spelling has come to be part of the thread its crapping. Two p's.

Thanks for picking me up on my spelling hero. I was at the game and on a number of occasions saw Toumpas shirk the contest and as a result fumble the ball. So I'll stick with my original comments except with your expert spelling advice I'd say he was crapping himself.

I too saw the game and I can remember a fumble from Toumpas but it didn't have anything to do with him "shirking the contest" on "a number of occasions".

Did Tapscott get on the park today?

Do we really care Chaser J?

Really? That's your contribution? You thought that what you said was important enough for people to know that you wanted to post it onto the internet forever?

In answer to your question, Chaser, yes he did play. Seemed to get through uninjured.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
